Me and a few of my friends went down drinks and food and I had such a wonderful experience. First off the atmosphere is awesome, music isnt too loud, and the staff was super friendly. We ate food than went up to the bar for cocktails. The martini's were wonderful, and the bartender, he was amazingly friendly unlike so many other places downtown, where you pay rediculous amounts of money and the bartenders are so unfriendly. Will definatly be going back!
Pros: Great food great service, awesome bartender, friendly atmosphere!
Cons: Nothing to complain about.

The House of Blues Gospel Brunch is famous for a reason, it's FANTASTIC! If you leave there hungry, it's your own fault. From biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, sausage, waffles, even an omelet bar. The fried chicken is not to be beat. For those who are vegetarian, you're still in luck with salads, fruit, muffins, eggs, white chocolate banana bread pudding....they've got it all.
If that wasn't enough, once you've filled your stomach, the gospel choir will fill your heart and move your soul. Everyone gets into the act with the entire audience clapping to the music and waving their cloth napkins high in the air.
Gospel music not your taste. You're STILL in luck. The dinners here are fantastic too. The ribs are out of this world. They are the fall off the bone kinda ribs. With wonder sides such as garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, crispy green beans, all delicious. This is an experience you won't want to miss!
Pros: Friendly staff and fun, unique atmosphere
Cons: Wish I could go more often

If you ever go to the South Beach Bar and Grille, DO NOT order the side of rice and beans with your tacos. Sure, they're the best Mexican beans and rice you'll probably ever have either in the US or in a Mexico resort town, but it'll only make you too full to order a third taco, which is what you should do instead. Best. Tacos. Ever. No, seriously. Frankly, the mahi mahi taco was one of the two or three best things I've ever eaten in my life. Wife was almost as enthusiastic about the lobster taco, which only easily cracked her top ten. Oh, and the fish tacos are less than $3 a piece and the lobster less than $4 a piece. She hates cooked fish, so she didn't try the mahi mahi, but I did try the lobster. The lobster was very, very good. The mahi mahi is divine.
Pros: stunning seafood tacos, great dive ambiance, friendly service
Cons: can be loud, terrible parking

We just went there last Friday night. The food was great from the specials to what was on the menu. The place was not busy at all, which was a bit of a concern, but maybe people just need to know about it, because the food was very, very good. Service was good also. Then we headed up to the Altitude Sky bar. That was very nice. These are great places to enjoy a great meal and a great view and some drinks afterwards. Very nice evening out.
Pros: The food, everything was great
Cons: Non

I proposed to my wife in the downstairs booth, right by the bar 30 years ago, when this was still the Press Room. We now come by at least once a year when the Ice Rink is open at Horton Plaza and pig out on cheese, chardonney and the mussle bisque....we love the bar area as well and enjoy listening to the lawyer wanna-be's passing out business cards amonst each other, it's a gas! You are greeted by the owner and made to feel like family...and the food is worth the wait (but you usually don't have to wait long at all). Thanks for being part of a San Diego tradition! Anytime we are down by Horton Plaza it is a great place just for a drink or two (or more! HAHAHA).

Interesting 'saloon' decor-but with a modern feel, great 'American Country' atmosphere (and no - you dont have to wear Western gear as I had assumed). I have always wanted to have a go at line dancing and this was the place to try it. It was a little difficult to follow the instructor as you cant always see, but others who know the steps seem happy to help out. Be prepared to be out of your comfort zone when the music starts as you lose your steps, but stick with it - you'll have a jolly good laugh and have a really good time. The menu was what I imagined to be typically American, no disappointment there either as my burger and beer was great. There was a turkey dinner on offer, but we were all fed up of turkey from Thanksgiving dinner so beef/pork would have been a better option. My only regret is that I dont live here and can't make In Cahoots my second home!

I have been here many times before and have had a great time every time. They have a great happy hour and Late Happy Hour (10p-Close) too! Broad celection of half price apps and Huge selection of beer for a pretty good price. They usually have a short wait on busy nights but staff has always been friendly even when busy.
Pros: Beer Selection, Watching Sports, Meeting New People
Cons: None that I can think of.

Hands down my new favorite restaurant! This is my second time to dine at Currant, this time on a date... and it was perfect. The package of outstanding and creative dishes, the cool, classy ambiance and the tremendous service make this a must stop for foodies, or anyone who is ready for a terrific dining experience. Great wine list! I was quite pleased to see a nice variety and looking forward to visiting on half price wine night! I'm admittedly impressed by top chefs who oversee their kitchen and creations and Pfueger must have been in the back personally overseeing my baked chicken. WOW, so delicious! Currant gives me reason to go downtown now besides the Padres! I havent tried the desserts, but I have heard they are to die for. Looking forward to going back soon and even sending my parents on their anniversary.
Pros: ambiance, food
Cons: none

Let's just say we flew from Hawaii, drove from LAX to San Diego specifically to eat at Blue Point! Well sort of, we were supposed to stay in Anaheim for 3 nights but only stayed 2 nights. We spent the day driving, sleeping in San Diego, ate dinner, slept and went to Anaheim. So sort of...
I think what makes the Blue Point so special is the flavors and the techniques exhibited by Chef Jonathan Hale and his staff. I say techniques because of the perfection of the fish as well as their steaks. My first visit in April during a business trip I ordered the NY steak and had to remind myself it wasn't a filet. It was tender and done to perfection. This time we had fresh oysters, shrimp cocktail, soup, halibut and ribeye. Everything was superb! The flavors were distinct in every dish with a "WoW" factor in every bite.
Let me also mention that on both occasions the wait staff was incredible with great advice and answers to our questions. They made the experience so much enjoyable. Getting back to Jonathan, we had a chance to meet him as he was walking by and let me just say that he is truly a gentleman and very approachable. He truly makes this a special restaurant that we will frequent anytime we are in CA. I told him to open one in HI!
Pros: The food! Fish and steaks, fresh oysters, service
Cons: parking

I have been to Gringos many times, and I have always enjoyed my time there. The food is good, the margaritas are freakin awesome! Where else can you get a 27 ounce drink that they arent pushing for you to share with someone? Its like the big gulp of booze.
On sundays they have a brunch that is all you can eat and drink mimosas. Sold!
The food is good too, I usally get the filet and shrimp combo. Its a file mignon and jumbo prawns for like $25. Good deal.
Great place to go with friends, great drink specials, i highly reccomend it.
Pros: margaritas and brunch
