I've been with San Diego County Credit Union Since 2001 when I got my first and only job out of high school. Overall, I'm satisfied with them. They're always a good fall back for when I'm not interested in standing in long lines to do some banking.
In 2003 I used them to finance my car. The interest rate was okay for that time, I suppose. I don't know if it was the most competative, but it was good enough for me. I must say, however, if you're trying to make a financing deal between SDCCU and an independent dealer/agent, be ready to have a cell phone handy for lots of back and forth calling to get the deal straightened out. Even when all parties were sitting at the table for final paperwork signing and handing over of checks, there were some issues that I could have done without.
As far as functioning as a bank, they are better than those large banks. A lot more personable and less red tape than Wells Fargo for sure. I think I'll forever have a grudge with that establishment...
I like going to SDCCU when I know it'll be busy at WAMU, my other bank. I can do all my banking without a line at the locations I go to. Of course I'm not telling which. Why would I create more lines for myself to have to stand and wait? :)

It's an interesting name, but my friends all recommend him. Parking can be a problem since you have to park on the street, but he is a very nice accountant who looked like he has been preparing taxes for 50 years.
There are actually two of them, a tax dude and a tax lady. My interview was with the taxdude. He went over my taxes line by line and was pretty patient with my questions.
He gets booked up really early.. so make your appointments early.

Because they are a small business, there are variety of ways you can actually pay for their service. They are a really great service, they give good recommendation and results.

I was referred to SDMCU over five years ago by a friend and have been nothing but satisfied with their service. I find the requirements to open checking account are more reasonable than a mainstream bank like Bank of America.
They seem to offer competitive rates with their loans and CDs, IRA's. I don't know much about investing in these types of savings accounts, but, their employees are very knowledgeable and give sound suggestions.
The tellers always remember my name and that really makes a difference when it comes to the competition.

I searched around for a good place to get my taxes done as I am new to California. Decided to give this place a call since they have such high ratings. "Steve" on the phone, who is the primary preparer there has an unfortunate habit of speaking down to people and demeaning them. He was very pretentious and did seem interested in my business what so ever. I did not have my taxes done here as speaking to him on the phone was enough of an unpleasant experience. I am a rare complainer, but I felt obliged to create a profile on city search just to warn others. He may be great are doing returns, but all I know is his personality is tedious.
