Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait......Wait and wait some more. This is what will happen if you go to BJ's at Tanforan Mall the "NEW" restaurant with a very young, unfocused wait staff. We were there last Thursday with a friend and we were surprised by the quality of food that was delivered to our table. It all started with the host saying we would have a 4 to 5 minute wait and then when we checked in ten minutes later and he quickly rebuffed the information and said no he meant our wait was FORTY-FIVE minutes but he could seat us in about twenty?????? Entrées were on the higher "Chili's" end and our orders were a sourdough hamburger, petite steak, and roast beef with au jus sandwich all came to us on the cold side. House salad was okay but basic, and our app's were a little greasy and we were given dirty plates on which to eat our app's on. Ewwwwwwww! Servers were very young and when we were taking to our table we noticed that there were at least four tables just sitting around waiting to be cleaned AND servers were hanging out in the aisles chatting and not working. If you have a bad back DO NOT SIT AT THE TABLES, the chairs are so uncomfortable, you will probably limp out with your cold bag of take home food. After writing this and spending about $80 I think I should call and complain.....What a way to digress ;)

We've eaten at BJ's Restaurant and Brewery in San Bruno at the new Tanforan shopping mall twice now. Both times we've eaten in the bar area because the wait is over 1.5 hours. We were lucky that we were able to get an open table from people leaving in the bar. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, it is always crowded and has a sports bar feel with many TVs. The food was good, salads, soup and sandwiches are all great. The service both times was lacking. The wait staff seems to be inexperienced and although they may be understaffed, our waitperson forgot food items on both times we visited. We ended up cancelling our order for an appetizer the second time because we received our salad and entree with no mention of the appetizer. I think that our waitress forgot to place the order.
