Decades is great! Two of my friends and I were desperatly shopping for two masquerade ball gowns and a 1940's diner waitress outfit, when we heard about decades. Of course we picked a Sunday to go shopping and in Utah... We were so pleased when we found out that they were indeed open! We quikly found not only all three completely unique outfits, but two sets of hoops for underneath the gowns! And on top of great and kind service, the prices were VERY reasonable. The most elaborate of the dresses was only $32, were we had found others in other stores that wern't vintage and really not as stunning, that were for over a hundred! Overall it is a wonderfull store and I highly reccomend it.
Pros: service, selection, display
Cons: Parking was a little tight w/construction outside

Ken's place is so much more than a bookstore. It's a cultural center for the city. There's so much to take in there. If you haven't been, treat yourself, and take some time to enjoy it. The staff is great too, very helpful, and none more so than Ken himself. In my experience, some business owners who deal in rarities and antiquities can be a little cold to deal with, particularly if you are not in the position to spend a lot. I've been a customer of Ken's for years, and one of the things I appreciate the most is that even when I had no money Ken still treated me well, answered my questions, and fostered my interests in literature, history and the arts. As Salt Lake - like the rest of the country- melts more and more into the United States of Generica, we are fortunate to have something as unique and authentic as Ken Sanders Bookstore.

i have been shopping at this deseret industries religously for years. it has had its ups and downs as to the variety of desirable items. it used to be fun to stumble upon a treasure but those are far and in between moments because they are spotted and gone before they even get to the floor. i still like to look around.
Pros: fun to shop
Cons: prices are to high

Retro Rose carries retro styled antique furniture and appliances. There are also some cool collectibles throughout the store as well. I love going in and browsing at the different items. The employees are always friendly and can answer any questions you may have. Prices seem to be normal compared to othe antique shops. Parking can be a bit tricky--being located downtown. Parking meters are available and if you can't find one, just drive around the block a few times until one becomes available.
PROS:
CONS: Parking
