I have bought guns from them in the past. Each time it was the same deal. Wait in line for ages. When you get helped, they often look down on you for your lack of knowledge. After my last purchase I decided I wouldn't buy from them again.
I have since visited many other gun shops in the Salt Lake area. There are better places out there. Better service, and you'll be treated with respect.
Pros: Location
Cons: Rude, Arrogant

Waited for a month for the Glock 26 to be delivered. Acutally put some money down so they would call me. Rather than call, they continued to sell the stock to others. When I did call, they said they had plenty, but when asked why they didn't call, all of a sudden they didn't have any in stock. Bunch of liars. Now I'm trying to get my money back and it isn't exactly easy.
Pros: Willing to take my money as a down payment
Cons: not willing to give it back

I bought a springfield xd pistol over 2 months ago. I was told by the salesman that they get them in all the time and i should have mine in a few days. After 2 months I'm still waiting for it. They have never contacted me. I've called them several times to check in on the status to be told that it hasn't come in and they don't know when it will. Very frustrating.
Pros: can shoot guns and get the money spent for rental credited towards purchase.
Cons: They sell guns they don't have and don't know when they will have and don't contact you to inform you. Just tell you it should be any day and months pass by.

I have been doing business with Doug since the day he opened the door, and I can honestly say I have never regretted any of the hundreds of transactions I've done with him or his staff. He went to alot of effort at times to find a particular gun or item I wanted and still gave me a very fair price on them. Sure the parking is cramped at times, but they have arranged extra parking next door. They do get busy at times, that's a good sign that they have loyal customers and referrals. I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to get helped, and unlike some other gun stores, the staff is knowledgeable and not pushy. I like being able to go to their shooting range during bad weather to shoot or sight in a gun. I can heartily recommend Doug's to anyone looking to purchase a gun or accessories.
Pros: Good location and staff
Cons: Interior could stand a little remodeling work

I've been a customer at Doug's since I was 18 and bought a 10/22 there over 13 years ago. I've had a little bit of a love/hate relationship with them.
The hate part: It's often very hard to get service when you go in. That's to their credit in a way because they are busy even in the middle of the day on Tuesday, but if you're just running in to pick up a box of ammo or to grab a spare mag it's hard to justify waiting for 30-45min before a sales clerk acknowledges you. The store isn't very attractive inside or out. The product shelves are set up in a strange maze pattern and it's not an easy place to browse. If you're going there for the range be sure to call ahead, I've gone in more than once and been told it's league night and no lanes would be available, or I've had to wait up to an hour to get an open lane. The range isn't spectacular, and unless something has changed it?s hand guns and .22s only. The area outside the range, behind the glass, has a large cable spool that is used as a table and the place is pretty beat up.
The love: Once you get a sales clerk they are usually very knowledgeable and take their time to help you with your purchase. It's nice to know that when you're waiting for so long to get help it's because they are treating every customer as though their needs and questions are important. No matter how long you wait at Cabela's you're still going to get treated like cattle when a sales clerk gets around to you. They have a good selection and fair prices. You can get reloading supplies, spare mags, holsters, optics, tactical lights, defensive ammo, gun safes and more. This is an independent, local gun shop and it's nice to have that around. One day Wal-Mart and Cabela's might be our only choices, but for now I still shop at Doug's.
Pros: selection, prices, knoledge
Cons: parking, apperance, long waits

I recently bought my first handgun, and during that process went to Cabellas, Get Some Guns N Ammo, and Doug's to do my shopping. My wife had never shot a gun before, and I had shot quite a few, but never my own. When we went to Cabellas, we couldn't get any help, and the people were rushed to get me in and out. I felt like I was at a car dealership. Get Some was also a horrible experience. They treated me, and my wife especially, like we were retards for asking questions. I didn't catch the salesman's name, but I will never step foot in there again...they have lost a lot of future business (a lot of range fee income, guns, ammo, classes, etc).
It was like a breath of fresh air stepping in to Doug's. They were polite, they were available, while not feeling like we were being pressured. The best part is they did a very, very, good job with addressing my wife's concerns. I will go back to buy all my future guns, ammo, classes, everything I can get from them...I will!! You CANNOT go wrong with Doug's!!
Pros: Great Staff, nice place for new gun owners and experienced shooters alike.
Cons: Limited parking

No relation to the company, but thought I would title it that way anyways. I have purchased both a handgun and rifle from Doug's and plan on buying more. My first purchase was for a brand new Springfield 1911 which they had the best price in the state (I have looked as far as Cedar City). I was again pleased by a Norinco M14 they had used but still excellently priced (an quite accurate). In my various visits to the store Dennis showed me around and introduced me to other great priced reloading supplies. I did not feel pressured or like I was being sold to. The only complaints I have are not exactly within their control. One is while they have great selection of handgun reloading supplies they are limited when it comes to rifles (it has more to do with current demand than anything else). And when I referred my brother to them (recently returned from Iraq) they had difficulty obtaining his specially requested M4, and he ultimately cancelled the order because long delay (fault of the company, not Doug's). I would whole-heartedly (and do) refer anyone to this fine business without any reservations.

The lanes are much brighter, now, and ventilation is average to good. Prices on weapons are very good, on ammo, average. I disagree with the other reviewer on high pressure sales. My friend just bought a pistol there and there was good service (showed him 2 examples so that he could pick a good trigger) and with no hype. And, they've doubled the size of the sales staff in 2 years, so customer service is improved.
Bottom line. It is the only reasonably priced indoor range in the the Valley. I'm glad they've improved the facility and gotten more staff.

I usually go to this target shooting range during the winter and if it is raining out--or just too windy. It is a nice sized range. I usually shoot my .22 pistol and long rifle. You can rent a firearm if you don't own one or just want to try one out. You can pay to shoot for each individual trip you make or you can purchase a pass. The pass is the best deal. All the employees working are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
