I had no idea how nice the Hogle Zoo would be. My family arrived at 9:30 am which was a slow time. I didn't think $8 was unreasonable to pay to get in. The exibits were great especially the giraffe one. You can get up to eye level to the giraffes thanks to the stairs in the exibit. If you need something to snack on I didn't think the prices were that bad. Definitely bring good walking shoes because you do get a good workout there are quite a few steep hills. We spent 3 and a half hours there and had a great time. I haven'e been to many zoos but this is the best one I have been to so far.
Pros: Good value for the price
Cons: Not all exhibits were open

Hogle Zoo has spent tons of money over the past few years renovating the animal enclosures and getting everything more child-friendly.
They have elephants, wolves, giraffes, lions, tigers, and many other animals. The tigers are my favorite.
They have all sorts of little activities for kids and there are lots of things for adults and children to see.
I love to visit this zoo.
PROS: Child friendly, lots of things to see
CONS: Not extremely cheap, expensive foods

About the only thing I liked looking at was the elephants. They have spent alot of money renovating the zoo. Right now they don't have alot of animals. They relocated the cats because they are building a new Asian Highlands exhibit. They sent the hippo to another zoo. The polar bear died a few years back. I didn't even see my favorite howling monkeys last week when I went. The admission is around $8. Until they get more animals, it isn't worth it.
PROS: elephants
CONS: not as many animals

We love visiting the zoo throughout all four seasons. In fact, we have a zoo membership. After only a couple visits to the zoo, we've gotten our money's worth and the rest of the year it feels like we're going for free! The new elephant exhibit is fantastic- my 2 year old daughter could sit and watch the elephants for hours! Hogle Zoo is a relatively small zoo compared to other big zoo's around the country. However, his zoo if perfect for parents with young children because it doesn't take very long to walk through. We usually go for a couple of hours in the morning and are done viewing all of the animals by lunchtime.

The Hogle Zoo is a lot of fun if you know when to go. I think during the summer they do a special where the first Wednesday of every month is free or something like that. I recommend going in the morning when it is cooler and the animals are more alert. The new elephant's exhibit is awesome. It allows you to get a better view of the elephant's, and this past summer the employees actually had one of the elephant's painting a picture. It was fascinating to watch. The bird show is definitely worth your time!! It's a great place to be, and to learn!

My family and I love to go to this zoo. Now it may not be the biggest zoo but it is packed full of things to see. The spaces for the animals are alittle small but they are doing alot of remodeling. Great elephant exhibit. Prices are great! Parking has alot to be desired ( need alot more spaces). The food is alittle expensive but not bad tasting at all.
PROS: The train that takes you around the park.
CONS: Parking as stated above.

My family loves the Hogle Zoo. They have been doing work on it for several years now but everytime they get something finished it makes the zoo all that much better. They have fun animals and during the summer there is usually a some type of special attraction happening. My son loves when they have the bird shows.
I feel that they keep the place really clean, considering it is a zoo full of animals and kids! You can get a really good deal for tickets if you buy a season pass. Go twice and it pays for itself. We like to go once during the winter. The animals seem to be so much more active at this time of year. (its too hot for them in the summer).

Hogle Zoo really is working to improve itself. In the past when I went to the zoo I always felt really sorry for the animals because their cages were so small. This past year they have built a new elephant exhibit which is really nice. They are also working on a new home for the Lions and Tigers which I am looking forward to. The kids love the train and the bird show and the playground. I am glad to see all the improvements they are making.
Note: Bring your own lunch or eat before you come because the food choices are very limited.
PROS: Small Zoo, Great for Kids
CONS: Terrible Food!
