Located at the intersection of Macalester and Grand Ave is one of my favorite thai restaurant. Traditional decor and accessories makes this place warm and welcoming.
With the array of curries, rolls, soup, pad thai and reasonably priced this place attracts huge lunch crowd from neighborhood business, college/universities. Their "Red Curry" is absolutely a must have. Other favorites are Thai pasta, fried spring rolls, drunken pasta and chicken pad thai.

Had a large group after a Mac graduation. The servers easily accommodated the group, didn't even add an automatic tip for a large group. My beef entree had enough Morel mushrooms to share among four people. Both "flora and fauna" are well represented, and all dishes I tasted were wonderfully and differently flavorful. Excellent wine selection at a reasonable price. At the end of an extended meal we were satisfactorily full. We were not rushed, and the experience will bring us back from out of town.
Pros: Bread, appropriate portions, wonderful sides
Cons: Left standing at the front door for awhile

Very good. Your online appointment request worked like a charm. Requested an appoint online at 9 PM, you called at 8:04 AM the next morning, said he would show up between 9 - 1, and he called before arriving at 12. Didn't try to sell me unecessary stuff, very friendly guy. In and out quickly and hopefully solved the problem! - Gary M.

This is the first time I've tried Trattoria da Vinci, and it was a takeout order. I live in Lowertown and have had enough bummers of overpriced meals. I tend to do a lot of delivery during the week, but it gets old paying the delivery fee and tip only to find they didnt get the order correct.
I decided to call Trattoria da Vinci after finding their menu online. I emailed them while I was at work to ask their prefferred method of preorders. Wonders of wonders, they emailed me BACK within a couple of hours. So I gave them a ring and ordered 3 entrees:
Spaghetti & Meatballs, Canneloni Ripieni, & Ravioli di Pollo Alla Sorentina.
I asked them to have my order ready at 6pm. I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes early. They greeted me and apologized that my food would be ready in 9 minutes and asked if I would like to wait at the bar. They offered me a soda on the house while I waited which I accepted. I spent some time admiring the lovely atmosphere.
I received my food exactly on time.
The food survived the walk home. They plastic wrapped each box so the food didnt leak. The additional box had a nice chunk of presliced bread. Soft, warm, delicious--not Olive Garden breadsticks! There were 3 2oz containers of a delicious garlic spread. The spaghetti was the largest of the 3 entrees. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce tasted very fresh. The 3 meatballs on top were generously sized. The Canneloni Ripieni was the hands down favorite though--comfort food at its best. Two large crepes: cheesy, meaty, tender on the outside and just a bit brown crisp on the outside. Ravioli di Pollo Alla Sorentina was perhaps the smallet entree among the three and the most expensive. 4 large raviolis with lots of garlicky sauce. But the tasted of the smoked chicken with mozzarella was truly divine.
So hand down, a delicious meal and yummy left overs at Trattoria da Vinci. I look forward to trying their pasta bar and drinks.

I completely disagree with the previous statement regarding the service at the Muddy Pig. You should go to Applebees if you expect a waiter or bartender that will get down on one knee, ask you patronizingly about your son's little league team all while telling you how amazing the jalape?o poppers are. The Pig is the type of place that compels you linger around for a few hours and be comfortable, whether by yourself or with a group of friends. That said, I find the service at the Pig to strike the right balance, not too pushy nor too sparse. As for Daniel, he's a misanthrope and probably a Communist sympathizer but he does pour the best rye Manhattan in St. Paul, which in these times as they are, the value of which cannot be understated.........
Pros: Beer List, Non-Pushy Service, Great atmosphere
Cons: Non-pushy service inspires bored people to write bad things about people who are trying to make an honest living

Spalon Montage in Woodbury, MN is such a great way to relax and get away from the 9to5 in Woodbury. It's hustle and bustle outside, but, warm and relaxing on the inside.
The staff is very professional and make you feel like your on a vacation. I highly recommend scheduling a girl's day out at Spalon Montage!
Pros: professional, comfortable setting, flexible scheduling

This place is just gorgeous on the inside, with the wood, stone and double sided fireplace. The water fall above the bar is just beautiful too. Oh yeah, the food isn't bad either. I highly recommended anything that is cooked by the woodfire as the name implies. The portions are not huge, but they are enough. They have a decent selection of wines, though not always the most knowledgeable staff when it comes to those wines.
Biggest perk, though, especially on a game night? Free parking across the street.

I created a map on Google of restaurants in my area that I want to try. Today my friend and I tried the Black Sea, what a pleasure!! We arrived around 1:30 and we were quickly greeted by the owner Ali, he sat us at one of the little tables. As previous reviewers have said there are beaded curtains dividing the tables and there is great Turkish items everywhere you look. We decided to split some appetizers and a sandwich so we could taste quite a few things on our visit. We had the Meze Platter (cabbage rolls, falafel, humus, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, peppers) to start with, followed by the Veggie Sandwich (eggplant, falafel, cabbage rolls, lettuce, tomato, onion, sauce) and we both enjoyed the Turkish lemonade with unlimited refills. The food was great, all of the flavors were spot on and quite enjoyable. We were served quick and the owner.. who was also or waiter was super friendly. Our lunch with drinks and tax was under $20.00 and we enjoyed this better then any big chain meal. I suggest checking it out, it is an unassuming little place so don't let the outside scare you off.
Pros: The friendly owners, great food and the fantastic prices
Cons: parking, not a ton of seating

I have been to many Japanese restaurants in the Twin cities and this is by far the best. The food is really, really, good. The service is also great. They have very unique rolls which are very yummy. My favorite one is the incredible hulk roll. I would recommend going nowhere else but Sajiya for Japanese food.
