I went to this store because I knew they had a large selection of designer dresses and I was looking for something a little unusual and not the typical wedding dress you see in every magazine. I had a great sales lady who helped me throughout the entire process and made me feel comfortable with my decision. I ended up purchasing a large ballgown with a lot of layers of tulle. It was totally different then what I expected to buy, but I absolutely love my dress. I was able to stay within my budget and have a perfect wedding dress. This store can be a little busier than the other stores I visited, so make sure to make an appointment. I walked in without an appointment and they were able to help me, but I had to wait about 15 minutes which was no big deal. Overall, I really enjoyed my shopping experience and am very happy with my dress.
Pros: good prices, helpful and friendly staff
Cons: very busy

Until my dress arrived, I was a huge fan of the Wedding Shoppe. I had heard all kinds of horror stories about shopping for a dress, and I had a wonderful time in the store looking at dresses. I really liked the salesperson, and I ordered a dress I loved.
This is a warning to future girls to be INVOLVED in the selection of size for your dress. After choosing the dress, my bust and waist were measured. The sales associated asked me what size I normally wore. I told her that if something needed to be fit to my waist, I was a 6. If it needed to fit to my butt, I usually buy an 8. She told me that an 8 would work and I left happy.
When the dress arrived, it didn't fit, especially in the hip area. I couldn't get it zipped even with the help of my maid of honor, could barely breathe, and it was so tight in the hips I couldn't even step on top of the 1" pedestal because I was sure I would fall. Enter the seamstress, who told me it was just that "the hidden zipper is difficult to zip up," she could easily take it out and that I'd be "swimming in the next size." I told her that I wasn't sure and that right now there was no way I could walk or sit in the dress. She nodded her head and replied "these dresses are like that." !!!! I couldn't believe it, so I said, "So you're saying I shouldn't be able to walk or sit?" and she repeated that "these dresses are like that." REALLY?? Although the dress is fitted in the waist/hip area, it's not a mermaid dress and it flares out from the hips, and besides that, what kind of place sells a dress knowing a bride won't be able to walk??! Like at all??? She also asked me if I'd requested the smaller size. I told her that I could care less about the size so long as it fit, and I hadn't had any role in choosing the 8. Her response to that was that "most girls actually want a size down."
She then told me we'd remeasure me, including the hips this time. When she went to measure my hips, she didn't do it at the fullest place, which made it look like I was closer to fitting into the size than I was. I didn't say anything at the time, but later my maid of honor said she'd noticed the same thing. The seamstress, who was rude and cold throughout the whole experience, told me they'd red tag the dress and a customer service person would contact me. At no point did she apologize for my disappointment or for the store's not having measured my hips the first time.
I left, but in a few minutes I felt odd about the hips measurement, so we decided to go back and remeasure. When I arrived, it turned out they coincidentally had a new sample size 10 of the dress, and they were willing to let me try it on. It fit great, so the situation was resolved BUT while in the fitting room I remeasured my hips (I sew, so I know how to do this properly) and she had undermeasured by 2". That's like a whole size off. Either she just can't do basic measurements (which is a reason to take your dress elsewhere for alterations) or she intentionally mismeasured me to keep me in the smaller size, which would have meant more $$$ for them with the alterations that would have been necessary all over the dress.
If you look at a lot of other reviews of this store, you'll see a common theme: most people enjoy the shopping experience, but the alterations department is best left alone. I COMPLETELY agree based on my ridiculous and rude interactions with the seamstress there, and I would add an additional caveat: I really, really liked my salesperson, but I think that if you buy your dress here (or anywhere, for that matter), make sure you are carefully measured and that you personally see the size chart and are involved in the decision about which size is ordered. It's in a place's best interest for you to require more alterations, and often times you're getting measured at the end of the appointment when they're trying to rush you out the door.
Pros: Fun shopping experience
Cons: Problems with sizing, rude alterations staff

I loved this store! I went shopping with my two sisters and my mom and had an awesome experience at this shop. My sales lady was completely professional and helped me pick the perfect dress. I had no idea what I was looking for and my helper guided me the entire time. I would highly recommend this store to other brides. This store can be busy, but I felt it was well worth it. My dress was $599 and is beautiful.
Pros: Large selection of dresses, good prices, nice staff
Cons: Can be busy

I really wanted to buy my dress here because I live in the neighborhood and it would be so convenient, but this is exactly the kind of company I don't want to support.
The space where we try on dresses is spacious- if you are there alone. I went during the week the first time and had an okay experience and so came back with my mom and (soon to be) mother in law. I couldn't believe they had 7 brides up there, all fighting for a glance in the mirror. So many of the dresses were already in other rooms and their selection is almost all modern. (I wanted something very traditional).
Our attendant was friendly, but any time I asked if I could change something about a dress (straps, neckline or back to be raised a few inches, for example) she'd reply with something like: "Well I guess this isn't your dress." I told her I didn't think I was the type to burst into tears at the sight of me in the perfect wedding dress, but that didnt' convince her to answer my question.
I couldn't believe the over-emotional brides and the unrealistic workers. There was one dress that I liked, but she wouldn't tell me who the designer was and with that, I took my business elsewhere.
Pros: trendy dress selection
Cons: cramped, overbooked

A friend recommended this place to me so I showed up expecting to find my dress there.
Because my wedding was only 3 months away I needed to buy off the rack. As soon as I was given a sales associate, she led me to a small room in the back of the store where they kept dresses good for destination weddings and told me to look through them (there was no room for my mom and friend so they were stuck standing in a tiny hallway). She gave me absolutely NO direction. The room was so small it was hard to go through the dresses...half of them were not on the hangers anymore so it was difficult seeing what they looked like through the garmet bags. After literally like 2 minutes, another girl/sales associate came in wanting to use the room so she quickly ushered us out of the room with only four dresses and put me in this TINY dressing room. She left me to figure things out on my own. The first dress I tried on was way too small and was completely torn. It became pretty clear that none of these dresses were in good enough shape to buy off the rack, and were all in a size 6 which wouldnt even fit me. Next time she came in I expressed my areas of concern and she told me that there were a couple of size 8 dresses and I should have looked for those ones (you tell me how I was supposed to find a couple of size 8 dresses out of 50 in a couple of minutes and then suggested that I look in the plus size area!!) At this point I wa really upset and I politely told her that clearly this place was not going to work. She told me that ALL wedding shoppes were like her store and I was not going to find any wedding shoppe better and I might be better off at a "mass market place like david's bridal" (which she then talked negatively about).
Well I've got news for her: the next wedding shop I went to was absoultey WONDERFUL: they gave me direction, they had dresses in my size, that were off the rack AND in wonderful shape. They treated me like a bride with one-on-one service. I also went to David's bridal and they treated me like a bride as well.
Even if I had found my dream dress there, there was no way I was going to give them my money...they treated me so horrible I left there feeling bad about myself about to be in tears.
Pros: made buying a dress somewhere else an easy decision
Cons: Completely bad customer service, lack of direction,

I went to this bridal shop in hopes of finding a dress that was reasonably priced and something that I could purchase on sale and quickly. My fiance is in the millitary and we needed to move up the wedding. With only 4 weeks from my wedding, I was able to find a beautiful gown for only $299. The staff was extremely helpful and patient and I am so happy I decided to check out this store. I was very discouraged and stressed until I met my sales lady and she was able to find the perfect dress for me. I would totally reccommend this store to other brides. They were very accomadating and my overall experience was awesome!
Pros: Helpful staff, Good sale dresses

i went into the wedding shoppe to find my dress. when i walked in all the employees were cheerful, professional and happy to help. i was introduced to the woman that was going to be helping me find the perfect dress. the sales lady asked me what i was looking for in a dress and what my price range was, i told her and she said that she was going to grab some dresses that she though would be good for me and then she let us look for what we thought would be a good dress. which i loved because i hate feeling pressured. we tried on many dresses and then i found it! we ordered it and life was good.
about 3 months later i found out that we were going to have to move the wedding up because of health complication in my family. i called Mary Smith and she was more than understanding and able to help me get my dress in time for the new wedding date. she was even able to recommend a seamstress that is close to my home that has MANY years of experience in fitting and sewing wedding dresses.
i had to make an appt. to try on and pick up my dress, which i thought was good. that way if there was something wrong with the dress the alterations dept was able to assess the issue before i took the dress out of the shoppe. (lucky, there were no issues!)
parking is a little tough, but they are located right on grand ave in the heart of saint paul. so what do you expect?!
i cant thank the wedding shoppe enough for all that they have done for me to make this experience the most wonderful that it could be.
Pros: there to help, good prices, caring workers
Cons: parking is a little tough, but it is on Grand Ave...

I visted The Wedding Shoppe after several people told me that this is the place to shop. I went on a Saturday with my mom, sister and best friend. The stroe was very busy, but our experience was amazing. Our sales helper was great! She helped me in and out of every dress and helped pick out styles that she thought would look nice on me. I had visited three other bridal shops throughout the metro and found The Wedding Shoppe to be the most helpful. I really liked how the dresses were arranged by price and style. It made it a lot easier to shop. The other places I visited were arranged by designer. I did not find this helpful because I am not familiar with the different dress designers out there. I ended up purchasing a special trunk show dress that my sales lady pulled for me. I was very different than the styles I came in looking for. I was pleasently suprised with the dress and immedietely fell in love with it. I am very happy I decided to fo to this store. I came to the store with high expectations and felt like they went above and beyond to find me the perfect dress. I would highly reccommend this store to other brides who are looking for a shop that offers a large selection and who like personalized attention
Pros: Best Dresses in the Metro
Cons: Can Be Busy

It is not too late for you to save yourself!!!!!! This is a horrible, horrible place. I bought a dress to wear to my daughter's wedding in April, they recommend a seamstress that can not sew!!!! When the dress is ruined -unwearable !!!!!! There of course is no time to get a new dress before the wedding - because the seamstress did not want me to come until it was closer to the wedding - bad idea, so I'm out the time and money of the dress and shoes - nothing to wear - and still waiting for a call back from the customer service manager. For the love of all - save yourself - unless you have money to burn and do not care if your dress fits or not, is too short or not, and the people you are giving your money to - DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: WARNING!! VERY, VERY, VERY BAD PLACE
Cons: No customer service - at all - rude- nasty -awful

I would highly recommend The Wedding Shoppe on Grand Avenue. They had a wonderful selection of dresses and my consultant was amazing. She brought me a nice group of dresses that were perfect for my body type. I found the most perfect dress after trying on about ten styles. I am a picky bride and was impressed with how my sales lady found me something that was everything I was looking for and still in my budget. Overall it was a great experience and I thought they were great to work with.
Pros: Great Selection, Friendly Staff
