I can't believe the reviews here, either. There are over 2000 animals, representing 500 species. These people who didn't see animals must be blind or just not sure what an animal looks like. The animals at Como are in small, concrete inclosures, unfit for living. It's cruel. During the winter, they keep the giraffe in a 10 by 10 pen - for months!! That's the reason you don't see African animals at the MN zoo. There, they do what is best for the animal. In other words, they care. And as far as the price is concerned, have you been to Sea World lately? It's like $80 per person!! $12 at the MN zoo is cheaper than most zoos - most decent zoos, that is.
Pros: Natural spaces for animals, huge variety, creative exhibits. Cheap

I wouldn't waste the trip or the money! The place was overgrown with weeds and yet they were still spending millions on a new area for new animals to come when they haven't even faced the problems they have NOW! Weeds were overgrown in ALL exhibits! We rarely saw any animals and when we did they didn't look happy in my opinion. It is a poorly run facility. Some of the best zoos I've seen are the San Antonio, St. Louis, and of course the San Diego Zoos. Don't waste your time with this one!
Pros: nice uh... nothing!
Cons: everything is a con. Dont waste your time! Charged for parking too!

Children love to go to the Minnesota Zoo to see all of the animals. It is a long distance from where I live, so I do not go there often. I do enjoy going down the different trails to see the different animals; such as the northern trail, the Minnesota trail and others. You get to see birds, turtles, monkeys, wolves, and so many more animals. It is best that you bring your own lunch, because the vendors charge a lot of money for their food. It is nice that you can rest while walking the trails. I believe that children still get in free on Tuesdays. The price of admission is not too high considering what you get to see. If you have never been to the Minnesota Zoo yet, I would highly recommend it to you. Enjoy the adventure.

What a terrific zoo to visit on a dreary winter day. This zoo is only closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas so it is fun thing to do with your kids on a winter weekend for a change of pace. THe animals and their habitats are well taken care of and the staff is helpful and fun. The gift shop is wonderful. The admission price is reasonable so taking your family there is affordable for most. The zoo is easy to find and is only ten miles from Mall of America. What a great fun time.

We're members at the Minnesota Zoo and enjoy going once a month or so. Recently they've update the look of many exhibits--a great improvement. They are adding a new Africa trail which should bring more fun animals.
The dolphin and bird shows are not to be missed. During winter they have an indoor bird show that isn't quite as fun, but the birds do fly closer to your head!
The farm part is closed over the winter, but during the summer the milking demonstration is always educational and enjoyable.
It's gotten fairly expensive, so if you visit more than once, it's worth it to buy a membership.

We have a family zoo pass that we renew every year. This is a great year round zoo. IN the summer we go and walk all the trails and see the animals in their natural environment (no cages, and the fences are hardly visible). In the winter we do all the indoor things like the dolphin and bird shows. The animals seem to be very well taken care of. Everyone that works there that we have met seems to really love the animals.

There is no doubt, the Minnesota Zoo is pricey. Definately look at the season pass options. For our family, we figured out by just going two times during the year, the pass paid for itself. Also as a passholder, you don't have to pay for parking, so figure that into it also. Overall, the zoo is wonderful. The dolphins are definately the highlight. The zoo seems to get many different exhibits so there is usually something new to see. In the summer it is so nice, because there is so much to see outdoors. Yet, it is great to come during the winter because there is enough to see just inside if it is too cold to go out.

Minnesota zoo is by far the best zoo we have ever visited! There is so much to do, you almost need the whole to spend there. One of our favorite things was the camel rides! You can have your picture taken as you ride around on a live camel. They also have a swan shaped paddle boat that you can ride around the lake in and a tractor ride that takes you to a nearby petting zoo. Besides all of those fun things there is also plenty of animals to see. The zoo is a little pricey but definately worth every penny! I highly recommend taking a trip to this zoo if you have not been here.
