I purchased a SUV from Toyota Ackerman and I regret that I ever did. There customer service was nasty. They acted as if they didn?t acknowledge me once I enter there place of business. After having this vehicle for two days the ABS light came on and the brakes were making this loud funny noise. Took it back to them and they couldn?t find anything wrong with it. So I took it to another dealership and they found the problem. Ackerman didn?t want to cooperate until I told them that I would call my lawyer. They agreed to pay half in order to fix the problem. I had just paid cash for this vehicle and wasn?t about to dish out anymore money. About a month later I found out that it had been in a accident and the dealership told me that the car was a one car owner and hadn?t had any accident. I would never send anyone I know to them.

I went to Toyota Ackerman to do a diagnostic test on my 2001 Corolla, since the engine light came on. 15 minutes later the guy comes back to me and says I need a new catalytic converter and that the part and labor would cost around: $1,450. My jaw dropped, I said no and I walked out dazed. The engine light was off when I pulled it out of Ackerman, though I thought they just cleared the code for the catalytic converter and that it still needed to be replaced. I called around and after finding a price of $289 for part and labor at Comb's Auto I took it in. I told them what had happened and after they did an emissions test they told me that the catalytic converter was completely fine.
The guy at Ackerman told me I may experience some poor performance and engine trouble if I let the catty go. I did experience some poor performance though this was in no way related to the catalytic converter as they implied. The only thing that may be needed is a few new injectors.
Moral: Toyota Ackerman tried to rip me off!!!!!!!

Although he pays a lot of local media guys to do ads for him, don't believe the hype. Instead, shop around, you'll get a better deal. I sent them e-mail asking them to beat an existing quote and was told that the quote was impossible to beat (i.e. I must be making it up) - it wasn't impossible to beat, as some other local dealers (note the plural) subsequently beat the quote by over $100. Seems to be the usual St. Louis "city core" attitude, don't expect any reasonable pricing from them ...
Pros: (none)
Cons: won't meet (or beat) price quotes

Ackerman Toyota does not have a fancy showroom and their lot is quite congested. Their documentation fee is about average so not too much to complain about here. As with seemingly most other Toyota dealers in the area, they order their cars with select options to make you buy less popular options if you want a popular option. Not much you can do short of ordering a car and waiting or going with Jay Wolfe and paying a bit more. That said, Ackerman seems like one of the cheaper places to buy a Toyota. Their internet sales guy, however, is not all that willing to deal. I ended up buying my Toyota elsewhere because of the internet sales guy. He thought I was trying to trick him in telling him I was getting better quotes elsewhere when in fact I really was.
PROS: Among one of the dealers where a good deal can be had if you negotiate.
CONS: They are a car dealership. Need I say more?

You should go to Ackerman prepared, meaning that after you've received quotes on autos from other Toyota dealers. They probably will not offer the best deal unless you can prove to them that another dealer is going to beat their price and offer. Their Scion area is a little more straightforward as there is only one model there, so there is little room to move on this one.
Really, they do have a nice dealership; you just have to know what you are buying and what it's worth. Do not go here blinded or make a rash purchase before you compare.

We were wined and dined by the staff at Ackerman last fall when we purchased a new Sienna. However, when we returned to trade in two vehicles and purchase a second Sienna we were treated so poorly that we'll be buying a Honda this time around.
They're never willing to negotiate on the price of a new car, and will gladly tell you that. Plus, a closer Toyota dealership quoted us almost twice the trade in value Ackerman did.
