Though small and cramped and smelling a little funny, this place is pretty cool when it comes to getting cheap music or DVD’s. An eclectic mix of people frequent this store, which adds to it’s charm. Located right in the heart of “the loop” as the locals call it, Vintage Vinyl has a little bit of something for everyone and if you purchase used items, you can save a considerable amount of money. Also, live bands play sometimes, which is cool to check out as you’re bar hopping on a Friday night.

Now that you can buy music online, record stores are largely obsolete. This is oe of the few that you should still go to. They're not the cheapest record store but you can still buy old vinyl (if for no other reason than nostalgia), and you'll find items you can't find just anywhere. For example, you'll find imports of live shows and other interesting discs from some of your favorite artists. Plus, you can trade in Cds that you don't like anymore and they give you a fairly good deal.

As the name promises, there are lots of used records. They are organized and neat so it's not one of those stores with dim light and flying dust. This store is much more hip and offers all the latest CDs. This is also not a place for bargains on current music, but is better if you are looking for a special album on vinyl, or just to peruse the selection.

Vintage Vinyl has been a favorite place to go and spend an afternoon for over 20 years. When I was a poor teenager, I would take my cd's that I no longer wanted and sold them there. Now as a 30-something, I go there to look for those same cd's trying to recapture some of the great songs of my youth. If you're looking for something obscure, on vinyl or a new band to listen to then the staff can help you locate it. The eclectic selection of all types of music make it a place to go for the atmosphere - people watching is just as much fun as searching the bins for what could possibly be the music that you didn't know you needed, but can't live without. If they don't have it, they'll help you find it. If you're a music fan go to Vintage Vinyl. You won't regret it.
