My wife and I dined here last week, and we're not very impressed with what they have to offer. We ordered a large tossed salad and a large three-topping pizza. The salad came in a styrofoam take-out box: the lettuce was wilted and the mushrooms were slimy with black spots. Poor quality control.
Our pizza was just OK, considering all the other places around with STL-style pizza. The crust was of average consistency, and lacked any real flavor. The sauce was syrupy-sweet (full of high-fructose corn syrup?) and overpowered the taste of the pizza. Also, although the crust and sauce were cooked, but the toppings were almost raw, which makes me believe that they pre-cook their crusts, and when they get an order they top them and return them to the oven. Not good eats.
With all the other good pizza places in town, we won't be returning here.
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Below average food, strange layout for a restaurant

I can't see brining up the local police as a reason to avoid a restaurant... In fact, the local police directed me to Fortel's tonight and then, on second thought, joined me.

Very good pizza. Thin, St. Louis style crust with a tangy sauce and real cheese. Hot peppers and cheese on the table. Free refills. (Large cheese and two drinks: $17.00.)
O.K. family atmosphere: there are lots of video games for kids, televisions everywhere, beer for the adults, crayons and placemat games for kids.
Two suggestions:
1) Instead of showing sports on all of the television screens, why not dedicate a few of them to some family entertainment? silent movies (my choice); old cartoons; little Einsteins. It would offer a bit more for the kids and give the place even more of a family atmosphere.
2) The game-room could use some updating and some more family-friendly games. War and commercialism seem to be the dominant themes here: dismember terrorists or buy a chance at a new watch. Maybe that's just what videogames are these days, though.
It seems overall that there is a fundamental tension in this restaurant: is it a pizza sports bar or a family restaurant? At the moment, these two tendencies are in conflict: Too much sports for a family restaurant and too little smoking for a sports bar.

The last one we got had a second layer of cheese and pepperoni on it. It looked like it was made wrong and instead of making a new one they just covered it up and threw it back in the oven. When I called the manager she said she did not know why any body would do that, then I heard her scream at some one, when she came back she said they would give us a credit the next time we come in. That's been about 8 months ago but we can't get our nerve back to try them again.

Their pizza tastes a lot like what my mother used to make. What separates Fortel's from your regular chains is that the ingredients taste a lot fresher to me...specifically the onions and mushrooms. Also, I haven't found many places that will put shrimp on pizza but this place does and it seems (and smells) so wrong but it tastes so right.
I'm usually a huge fan of Imo's but this place comes in at a close second.

ok fortel's is alright the sauce needs a little something but it s still not like any thing special heck i'd rather if i had a choice either go to napoli's ,blackthorne,la pizza ,faraci's or even raccanelis but if i here one more person say its because they have mozzarella i'll go nuts ok seriouslly mozzarella as a cheese really has no flavor by the recipe . Simply put THEY USE IT BECAUSE ITS CHEAP!!!! But back to the point it's alright .

I am a transplant from Pittsburgh Pa. Believe me I had a difficult time finding good pizza in St. Louis. Everything was your everyday pizza chains. Finally, I found Fortel's, a family run Pizzaria for families. Fortel's is a great place to dine after the game. It is a great place to have any celebration. Fortel's takes pride in its product and always satisfies new and established customers. I just wish Fortel's would open a restaurant in Oakville, Mo. Thanks Fortel's, for making me feel at home in St. Louis!
Pros: Ample parking...nice and friendly dining room...excellent service
Cons: Not close enough... need a restaurant in south county...specifically, Oakville, Mo.

I can honestly say I have never had such wonderful pizza as I have had at their establishment. The food is fresh, and very appetizing. They offer a wide varitey of food to tempt your appetite from Buffalo Wings, Sandwhichs, Cheesesticks, Pastas, Pizzas and more! And of course you cannot leave without trying their mouthwatering dessert pizza. In Apple or Cherry it is a spread on pizza crust with crumb stresual toppping and and drizzled frosting.
