Miso was once the best sushi restaurant in St. Louis. Not any longer. The sushi was mediocre, the rolls fell apart, and the very average seaweed salad was a preposterous $8, about 3 times more expensive than I have ever seen it. The nigiri was decent and generously sized. Service was poor. Waiter forgot part of our order. All of this would have perhaps been tolerable were it not for the fact that the food here is about 1.5-2 times more expensive than other area sushi restaurants. Atmosphere is still nice, which is basically what you're paying for. Still a good place to go for a drink.

Best coconut mojito I've ever had! Great Happy Hour, Staff is friendly and atmosphere is relaxing. Good after a hard day at work.

Went early on a Saturday night with several friends from work. Promptly seated at 6pm in the premier spots downstairs on "the couches". Quick service. Great sushi. The special sauces were not all that special, and certainly not for the purist. Overall, though, the fish was fresh, the rolls unique. The best part was the atmosphere. Very cool place. We were not rushed out of our prime seats despite it being Saturday. Overall very enjoyable experience.
Pros: Atmosphere, sushi
Cons: On street parking

I took a date to Miso on a Thursday night after a few other places in Clayton. Once you walk downstairs you enter a very lavish and sophisticated lounge bar. I found our setup to be very romantic, granted it was a Thursday night and not too many people around and we had one of the couches, regardless. Our server was an absolute doll, incredibly polite and surprisingly knowledgable about her sake, which pleased me. Decent music spun by the DJ wasn't too loud, alotted a lot of time for talking. Good drink specials also.
Pros: genuinely nice place, great lighting, plush seating
Cons: Can't really complain

Being a hip, singles place the sushi could easily have been an afterthought, but it's actually quite good to excellent. While prices are high, portions are big, averaging out to, well, average in price. The biggest downside food-wise is the atmosphere -- loud, dark, and smoky. I have not yet eaten upstairs, but I like to sit at the sushi bar which is downstairs. Recommended but not at night for dining. Lousy handicapped access also.
Pros: Sushi excellent
Cons: Atmosphere

After multiple visits over the past couple years, I am convinced that Miso continues to be a popular place to be seen, and the service is fairly pleasant and prompt. The food is fairly good overall, but the sushi is sub-par and expensive. Portions are small, rolls are not well made-- reminds me of my attempts to make sushi at home. If you want good sushi, go elsewhere. If you want mediocre sushi in a crowd of trendy people, this is your place.
Pros: good service, good drinks, trendy crowd
Cons: mediocre sushi, expensive

Miso is by far my favorite sushi restaurant in STL. I moved here from Scottsdale, Az and Miso is a breath of fresh air. I've heard a lot about the "scene" in the basement, but it's so much more than that. Outstanding service matched with great ambience and energy and with the gernerous cuts of fresh fish and extensive alternative to sushi pan-Asian menu, what more could you want? The new sauces are such a great addition to the sushi menu and definitely set Miso apart from other STL sushi restaurants. The Wednesday 80's night is HOT and club DJ on Thursday draws an eclectic crowd. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great night out during the week or the weekend for a unique dining experience for St. Louis.
Pros: Service

Best Place in St Louis area to spend a thursday friday or saturday night. The sushi is great, and very reasonably priced, and if you go to drink... well thats reasonable too. The people are all pretty, so I reccommend dressing well if you go. It is definetly a place to see and be seen. Order a martini or some saki and bombs away!
Pros: Beautiful People, Good Prices, Saki
Cons: Crowded, Parking
