Had a hot dog there and hubby had pastrami. Nothing to write home about. I ordered hot fudge sundae. Quite disappointed. I would have expected that the brownie was warmed and soft.But it was hard and cold. The ice cream flavor was not all that. My DH had a vanilla sundae, more marshmallow than anything. He never got to the bottom on the glass so it was a waste of money. We won't make the drive again. Sorry.

If you think Baskin Robbins or Coldstone is great, wait until you try Leatherby's Creamery. Each order comes piled high with ice cream and liquid topings such as hot fudge or butterscotch. What would be a large sized ice cream creation at Basking Robbins would be a small at this family-owned ice cream parlor. Be advised, do not come unless you plan on eating alot of ice cream. You may have underestimated how much ice cream you actually get just by reading the menu.

Yum! Just thinking about Leatherby's ice cream is making me hungry. They have an excellent variety of ice cream and sundaes. There is something for everyone. They are able to accomodate large parties. We went with a party of about 10 when I got my masters degree. It was a great celebration. I know quite a few people who go there for kid's birthdays. It has a nice ice cream parlor feel to it. Classic, in every sense.

Leatherby's main attraction is their ice-cream. And, it is good. Their portions are quite large, so sharing is advised (or not, if you're up to the challenge). Their food outside of dessert is nothing special. I've always had the sandwiches and they are a good base before the ice-cream course, but not worth going there over.

Leatherby's is definitely the best sundaes money can buy! The parlor is family owned and operated and has two sacramento locations. All the ice cream and whipped cream is hand made right there. The ice cream is plentiful so all the sundaes are huge and it is recommended that you share with someone. However, the portions are more than generous for the price and always tastes perfect. Great for parties and families. If you go at night, be prepared to wait a few minutes.
