I took co-workers to lunch at Lucca's last week. The food was really, really good. I had the chicken saltimbocca & it was excellent. My co-workers also said their entrees were tasty. The desserts are out of this world. Four of us split a Death by Chocolate & a Warm Bananas in Phyllo Dough. Both were outstanding! Oh, and you should get an order of the zucchini chips to start. They're tasty & you can't eat just one.
The service could have been better - one of my co-workers remarked that the server never made eye contact - but it wasn't bad, just slightly off.
With appetizer & 4 entrees & 2 desserts plus iced teas all around, the bill was about $80. Quite reasonable for lunch for 4.
I definitely recommend reservations - Lucca's is popular & it can be hard to get seated promptly without a reservation.

My experience at Lucca's was good. We ate there for dinner and it was really crowded and luckily we made reservations because there was a long waiting list to be seated. I had the roasted chicken risotto and it was fantastic. The service was great and the waiters and hostess were friendly. The prices were a little on the expensive side but the decor was awesome. The restaurant is dimly lit and there are candles at your table and it was a modern and intimate set up. The only bad thing I would say is that the tables are too close together so even though I sat at a table for two, I felt like the people sitting to the left and right of me were at the same table.

Went on Friday night. It was busy and but we were seated right away and well taken care of by our waitress. The atmosphere is nice but it was a bit noisy. We got the spanish style sausage to get us started. It was very flavorful. We ordered the risotto and the salmon both of which were very good. Prices are reasonable.
Pros: Good food, decent prices
Cons: Can get noisy, parking

This place has great food and reasonable prices. I love their risotto and it goes great with a glass of wine. They do have a pretty small menu, but most things I've tried there are really good. I recommend sitting out in the patio area because it's really nice back there when the weather is good. I've been there a few times and the service and food was great. Atmosphere is nice too.
Pros: great food, nice place
Cons: service is usually good, but they can be slow at times

I believe that this midtown restaurant in underated and deserves more attention in the Sacramento Restaurant Scene. My wife and I ate here last week and were surprised how busy it was for a Tuesday night. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the specials for the night. Our appitizer of a polento pizza came out quickly and was delicious. My entree was a Sweet Pea chicken rissoto and was absolutly delicious. Perfect texture and the flavors were great. My wife ordered the prawn Linguini and that was also very good and rich. The shrimp were tender and went great with the cream sauce with roasted whole tomatoes. We both cleared our plates and went on to dessert. The creme brulee's come in a 3 pack of different flovors. This was something different and also very good. A quick walk to the bathroom and I saw the busy cooks in the open kitchen which adds to the feel of this homey restaurant. The Rustic brick and dark with bright color scheme was pleasing to the eye. I recomend Lucca to anyone looking for a great modern italian meal at the right price

Lucca is just plain great Italian food. My family visited from San Diego last weekend and we took them out to several restaurants, and Lucca was by far the favorite. You will pay a bit more at Lucca for your Italian food, but once you've taken your first bite, it will all be worth it. My family's first impressions of the food when it arrived on our table was that the servings seemed smaller than they expected, and that it looked fancy. At the end of the meal, our plates were all clean, we were stuffed and laughing together. The outdoor patio is also wonderful, especially diring the summer. You get the feel that you're in someone's beautifully kept back yard, with fragrant flowers, and nice lights hidden back in the garden, making for a romantic dinner for two.
Pros: Wonderful Italian food
Cons: A bit pricey, but worth it!

absolutely LOVED my experience at Lucca this past weekend.
We had reservations so were promptly seated at a nice spot outside. At first it was a little on the chilly side, but they have these huge heaters above the tables which made it a lot better. The atmosphere outside was great, nice candle lit garden-y feeling.
Our server was probably the best server ever. He knew EVERYTHING about the food on the menu. He memorized the specials of the evening so well, describing them to the tee, he made everything sound very appealing and appetizing. It was like he was telling a story, Ch1 appetizers, Ch2 entrees, Ch3 dessert. I was loving it.
The soup special was a mushroom bisque with truffle oil drizzled on top...BEST mushroom soup ever. I'm not joking. I had a taste of it and immediately wished that I had ordered it. I went with fettuccine special with the slowly simmered beef/red wine ragu. Also, amazing, really good. Tasted exactly like what the server described it would be like.
For dessert our table shared the white chocolate raspberry swirl gelato and the creme brulee (hazelnut, caramel & chocolate) sampler type thing. The gelato was thick and creamy and you could taste the freshness of the raspberry puree swirl in it.
Everything about my night at Lucca was great. Super attentive and friendly server, great food and atmosphere.
I really cant believe these are the same people that own Roxy...Roxy could learn a lot from this place.
Minus only one star because their waiting area is extremely small. And they ran out of gnocchi which I originally wanted to order. I suggest you have reservations so you are not stuck being sardined for a while.

I've been to lucca many times and I like it. The food is yummy, the service is good and the prices are great. We took the parents and they loved it. We had the special, which was fish and it was terrific. The special salad, spinach with Satsuma oranges and roasted hazelnuts was especially good, not too much dressing, but just enough...it was perfect. When we asked to split the salads they were very accomodating and the servings were generous. The deserts have always been delicious. I would recommend it to anyone.
Pros: The food.

Been there twice, but a third time is not a likelihood. First time, the food was good, but the waitress was a complete amateur. Second time, the food wasn't as good, the wine wasn't what I ordered, and the management was rude and offensive. This is not fine dining, the wine list is a bit limited, but it is a step above your cookie-cutter franchise bistro mainly in terms of location and atmosphere. If the staff were more experienced and a little more customer-service oriented, it would be a lot better. Oh well, there are other places easily within walking distance. I'm not bashing everyone; the hostesses were pleasant and the bartenders were courteous.
Pros: Ambience
Cons: It's a roll of the dice whether or not you leave in a good mood
