This is a used book store with a wide variety of different genres to choose from. They have mystery, romance, suspense and other types of books. The books look almost new which is nice. The price is cheap for the same type of books you would find at Borders. The place is clean and well organized. Parking is limited. The location is in downtown.

When Beers had to move, they piled boxes of discarded books in their parking lot. I picked my way through each one of those boxes while I lived in my VW van (my attorney said flee Oroville! Do not look back...pillar of salt, etc.). Kudo's to Beers for replacing my library of classics and collectibles. Now that my property dispute with Little Miss Loosie has the court's approval, I and my wife shop at Beers about once a month, looking for tasty books for our new home and for gifts. There is not another bookstore like this in the region!

This is probably my favorite book store. The store is set up nice. The book shelves are are set up in a spacey manner. The atmosphere is nice and the cafe is wonderful. There is always someone who is walking around to see if you need any help finding things. The employees are very friendly and cheerful.

Your event on June 4, 2009 with Bernie Williams was fantastic!! I arrived as a Yankee fan and left as a jazz and Borders fan. Your venue was setup great and the staff was very helpful. The signing area moved smoothly, yet Bernie was allowed to not be rushed. What a gracious man. Thank you for a great event!!

The Barnes and Noble in Sacramento, near Arden Fair Mall is always so slow, but has such a great selection. It can be hard to find any employees when you have questions, but its a great place to go study when you need to have some quiet time. I love coming here for the book I couldn't find anywhere else because they have so many that other stores never order.

East West Books is a popular place to search for spiritual and metaphysical literature. Their selection is really extensive and they have many books that might not be found at mainstream bookstores. The shop also contains some neat gift ideas for those hard to shop for friends. The staff is exceptionally kind and helpful, and they are always willing to engage in discussion about the latest works that they've read or to recommend a good title. The environment is very peaceful, and you could spend a long time in this place without realizing how long you'd been there.

More
With Comics Etc. folding up and closing all their Sacramento locations, it's nice to know that there are still places to find comic books. This small store has an excellent selection of all the current comics, and a decent assortment of back issues. They also carry some videos, and anime toys and nick-nacks. The staff are friendly enough, and the prices are what you'd expect. I don't know if they offer a subscription service like Comics Etc, so it might be worth a call first. Conveniently located near the Arden Fair mall.

I frequent Newsbeat alot becuase it is conveniently located near my place of work and it is nice to spend some of my luch time looking through magazines and newspapers seeing if one of them interest me enough for me to purchase it.
The staff is very nice and they do not mind people browsing through their publications at all as long as people respect the materials and cause no damage.
The store is on the small side but I swear you could find any magazine or newspaper you need, they have not failed me yet. Another positive aspect is that they have a small amount of refreshments and candy and such so you can munch and drink while doing your browsing.
Since the store is small, there are sometimes problems of overcrowding, and at these times I just save myself the hassle and don't bother going in, but it is not always like this.
The prices are about average and whatever is listed on the cover is what they charge you, but the customer service is the reason I keep going.

I have been going to this bookstore for over 20 years. It's close to downtown, Landpark and Midtown. It's not fancy but I can get the book I need.
The store lacks kids books and special interests like that; but I would say it has the best magazine selections in town.
Some times I walk in and think the Tower's magazine stand is a place to hang out.
It does have a great reference section.
