When Beers had to move, they piled boxes of discarded books in their parking lot. I picked my way through each one of those boxes while I lived in my VW van (my attorney said flee Oroville! Do not look back...pillar of salt, etc.). Kudo's to Beers for replacing my library of classics and collectibles. Now that my property dispute with Little Miss Loosie has the court's approval, I and my wife shop at Beers about once a month, looking for tasty books for our new home and for gifts. There is not another bookstore like this in the region!

Beers Books is my favorite used book store in Sacramento because of the great selection, friendly, comfortable, and clean atmosphere, and helpful employees. They pay good money for books you want to sell. They even have a nice cat. I like the outdoor bargain book area. I also enjoy browsing their postcards and note cards. Bathrooms are clean. Even the music they play is non-intrusive and enjoyable. I go there often. Its not a huge place, but it does have a good variety of books for the size of the location.
PROS: good selection, friendly and competent employees

A friend turned me on to Beers back in the 80's when I was into buying my classic books used. Their trade system is really a great way to read a lot of good books at no cost.
I have gotten some great deals on used reference books.
The place is organzied too which helps the staff help you find your book.
One more thing, they have new books too.
PROS: You don't leave empty handed
CONS: Not enough time to read all those books.

The best book store I have ever been in. Lots of used books and a good source for out of print books (or antiques). The clerks can find titles in the huge stacks of books, so I figure they must read alot themselves. That's always a good sign for a bookstore. This store has been around for many years and I hope they last forever--we need more like it.

But this is one of the greatest book stores ever. Their used selection is fantastic, and they always seem to be stocked with worthwhile classics and new fiction authors. They have a trade system for used books and books-on-tape, so some of those old titles can bring in trade credit or a tiny bit of cash. The people who work here REALLY know their books, their authors and their genres. They are always knowledgeable and helpful. If you love books, this place is hard to escape empty-handed.
