East West Books has a large selection of new age and spiritual books. They also have cd's, wellness items like yoga supplies, and unique gifts. They offer classes and have speakers as well. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for something more substantial than Barnes and Noble.

One of the great things about East West is that it is just down the street from Borders Books and Music. Why is that nice? Because Borders employees realize that their selection of New Age, Metaphysical, and Eastern Philosophy is not nearly as extensive as East West, and refers customers to them on a regular basis. East West carries a lot of books you won't find in the chains, which makes it the first stop if you want to explore your spirituality. They also carry an assortment of trinkets, statuettes, and the like.

The shop also contains some neat gift ideas for those hard to shop for friends. The staff is exceptionally kind and helpful, and they are always willing to engage in discussion about the latest works that they've read or to recommend a good title. The environment is very peaceful, and you could spend a long time in this place without realizing how long you'd been there.

This independent bookstore is a hidden gem in the midst of a Sacramento market dominated by major players such as Borders and Barnes and Noble. More than a popular spiritual bookstore, it is a peaceful abode for one to escape life's worries and be a part of a sacred community of like minded people. The store has a very peaceful environment about it that is very "Zen Like". The store employees are very friendly and talkative and are often found engaging in sacred dialogues with the customers. They have a terrific book selection as well as a nice offering of author events and yoga classes. Simply put, this is a great place to hang out if you are seeking a place to unwind and refresh while checking out some great selections.
