I was disappointed to see that the cheetah and the hippo have not been replaced as well as the red panda that have passed away recently. I feel like the zoo is rather small and cramped short of the giraffe exhibit. My kids really enjoy the reptile exhibit and it is well laid out to promote easy entry and exit for alot of people all at once. I have been to better zoos but it is still a nice learning experience for children and animal lovers like myself to visit.

The Sacramento Zoo is a fun place, and has a lot to recommend it, but true zoo-philes might find that this zoo is not the top notch zoo they might expect. However, it's clean, and features a variety of interesting animals. Of particular note are the reptile house and the red pandas. Many of the habitats have been revamped in recent years and that makes the zoo a better place. Could use more hands-on activities for kids and more things that might want a visitor want to linger.

My siblings love the excellent reptile houses, especially the three toed sloth.
Lots of parking and admision is very affordble.
The one event they have yearly that we never miss is the Ice Cream Safari, All you can eat Ice Cream and Soda!

This isn't as big of some other bay area zoos, but that's actually sort of nice. You can see everything in a few hours. For us it's a good place to take our toddler, because the bigger places wear her out. Even though she's little, she can also see everything just fine. They also have a few climbing area for kids to blow off steam. There is a mixture of old concrete exibits, and newer modern ones. The newer ones, like for the red panda, are increadable. If you like zoos, this is a fun visit.

The Sacramento Zoo is a fabulous place to take the family anytime!! Throughout the year, they offer different events as for the zoo, such as Ice Cream at the Zoo, or Music in the Zoo. They are constantly working to improve the animals' habitats, and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. There is a large collection of critters here.....giraffes, hippos, zebras, red pandas, snow leopards - the works!! Come enjoy a family friendly day at the zoo!! Lots of shade here too.

This is a fairly good size zoo located at the corner of Sutterville Road and Land Park Drive. You wont find all the animals here that you would find at a larger zoo but the kids will enjoy it. Across from the zoo is Fairytale Town which the kids will also enjoy.
Some people may think it is expensive but if you dont buy anything from the gift shop and look for deals, it isnt so bad.

Our family loves to go to the zoo and experience the animals. I have been disappointed in the Sacramento Zoo. This last time we went we saw NO cats at all, no hippo, and very few animals were out. The cost is about the same as other zoo's but not worth it. I would drive to San Francisco to go the their zoo.
PROS:
CONS: Hardly any animals are out!
