If your just out driving or need some fresh, healthy food for your house, stop at Flo's.
She stocks locally produced milk, ice cream,cheese, beef, turkey pies, baked goods, pickles & relishes, crafts and more. During the summer she also has fresh vegtables. (I've gotten some that were so fresh they were still warm from the sun.)
You can get a hot dog, ice cream cone, frappe or soda and sit at the picnic tables that have a great view of the surrounding countryside. Fabulous in the fall.
Beside the food you can buy mulch, compost and firewood.
This is a great way to support the local farm community and really enjoy yourself at the same time.

When we went to expand and repave our driveway, this is the only person we returned our call! The work was done in the timeframe quoted and the price was in keeping with the average. We had the sides expanded and they graded the dirt and had good attention to detail. Professional behavior by all workers-no foul language used while working, etc.

Every child under the age of one needs a little Taggie blanket. I really believe this. Kids are so attached to tags--find a stuffed toy, they will find the tag. Taggies are small fleece blankets with LOTS of colorful tags all over them. My son absolutely loves his--and has for years. I now give them as gifts to everyone who is pregnant because they are such a hit. They make different sizes, pillows, etc...

I am excited to be reviewing Small Steps Preschool. My son has attended his first year and will be going again this year. His sister will also attend.
They have a two day a week program for kids 3-4 years, and a three day program for 4-5 years.
From the first contact with Ann at Small Steps, I knew this was the right place for us. I wanted a pre-school that wasn't also a daycare. I wanted one that would let my son learn in his own way and provide the peer interaction that he needed.
What I found was that and more. Each of the teachers really get to know the kids. The program is well organized. It is structured enough that both the kids and the parents know what is going on and the kids learn a lot. It is also flexible enough, though, to cater to different learning styles and personalities.
There are several field trips and opportunities for parent involvement throughout the year. They have conferences a couple of times per year and are available for any concerns or comments at any time.
It is more expensive than the preschool through the high school, but I think the price is about standard for that kind of program. It is worth every penny.
My son has really come out of his shell in his interactions with people, and he has learned a great deal(though they don't push the academics as much in the first year.) Most importantly, he loves school. I think this is the best start he can have. I want him to be excited about school from the start and this has already been accomplished.
I definitely recommend Small Steps.

Wachusett AV may be a little out of the way for people without a car in Worcester, though it's only about 15 miles. I needed a little converter plug for my computer - 1/8" miniplug to RCA - and was having a heck of a time finding in in town and shipping online was too expensive. My friend recommended this place and drove me out and sure enough they had it! Decent prices, too. They have a lot of stuff that looks custom or homemade, but still pretty nice, and I'm sure it allows them to have a wide variety of products on offer if you need anything.

If you're looking for quality homes full of flair, yet reasonably priced, check out the homes built by C & S Builders. Other than the impressions their homes made on me, I appreciated the personal approach they took in understanding what I was looking for. They are dependable and have high confidence in their structures. I do as well.
What I like most about C & S Builders is that I didn't feel like I was just another sale. They are very friendly and genuine.

I was thrilled to find this snack bar nearby. It has the standard snack bar fare such as hot dogs, grilled cheese, BLT's, fried clams, and best of all, home-made ice cream.
The people are friendly, the service is fast, the food is great, and the price is reasonable.
There is indoor and outdoor seating with some of it screened in. There are games available such as checkers pieces you can bring to the table. It is a great place to go on a summer evening, although it can get a bit crowded at times. I suppose that is just a testament to how good it is. Overall, great place and family friendly.

My family loves Rutland Pizza. They have good food, good prices and fast delivery.
Having moved here not too long ago, we were a little disappointed that there are not many places for pizza delivery nearby, but have been pleasantly surprised by Rutland Pizza.
In house service is quick and friendly, and the pizza is pretty good. They have a good variety, clean environment, and give back to the community.
My son went on a field trip with his pre-school, got to see the kitchen, and the folks there were super nice. He still talks about it. They also donated money for the family fun day at the end of the year. They are definitely a local business that I want to support and recommend.

Heavy Evie's Happy Kitchen is just what you'd expect from a small town diner. They have a variety of great food, great prices, and fast, friendly service. It really has a nice small town feel to it.
The kids were happy with the kids menu and the staff was friendly with the kids. They were quite enchanted by the little fish tank in the corner. There was a spill while we were there and the staff was there quickly to clean up and happily replace the drink.
It really lives up to it name of "Happy Kitchen." I definitely recommend them.
