Hardly have any animals anymore. The most 2 of each animal. They DON'T HAVE ELEPHANTS!
Costs $11 per adult and $5 for parking.
Too crowded. In the amphibian building, you can never see any of them because there's always too much people in the way of the glass exhibits.
Food: It's okay, but not worth it's price. Pack a lunch.
CONCLUSION~Detroit Zoo is not a great zoo. I recommend you go to the Cleveland Zoo. Cleveland Zoo gets a lot of money, so its very nice/cheaper

the above gives much more info than I can give but this is a FUN time for everyone! We are members of the zoo so we are able to purchase tickets in advance. The kids dress up, trick or treat throughout the zoo trail, which is decorated to the hilt! There are games and music for the kids, too! Great photo op for family Christmas pictures, too! It can get crowded so be prepared!

Our Zoo is beautiful and I am sure glad they decided to keep it open. You would
think that the Detroit Zoo is mainly for kids but not too many years ago my best
girlfriend and I went together to see the sites around Halloween. We being grandmothers had the times of our life just taking in the animals and the beautiful
decorations. I love the monkeys...they make me laugh!!! When my children were younger I took a camcorder and took movies of everything from the train ride into
the penquins den and the reptile house all around the entire zoo. Than when it would be a rainy day and they were home we would watch the movie as if we were
right there again. It was quite neat!!!!

For a family of four - make 5 trips and you paid for your family pass. Go every weekend, you can let the kids run wild. I think I've seen several of the same kids over andover again this past summer....
Bees can be bad near the concession stand, so are the birds. Bring really good walking shoes and something to wheel the kids and the family junk around in....

This zoo makes for a day full of fun for the entire family.
The zoo features unique exhibits in nice natural settings. The park is a little difficult to navigate but has wide, smooth paths to walk on. Restrooms and food are nicely spaced.
Lots of new exhibits such as the polar bear exhibit with offer a nice close glimpse of their life.
The staff is friendly and the park upkeep is great,

The Detroit Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country. In addition to the numerous animal exhibits they offer beautifully landscaped grounds and gardens and a gorgeous fountain. Be sure to check out the new Arctic exhibit- you can view the polar bears and seals swimming through a unique underwater observatory. The penguin exhibit is also one of the best I've seen. Although the building is a little outdated, you get a bird's eye view of the penguins remarkable speed as they swim right past you. If you have a family and will be visiting the zoo more than once you will save money by purchasing the zoo membership for one year. You will receive free membership and parking for the entire year.

A nice place to go but most of the staff there are so grumpy and difficult it makes it hard to be there. Also members don't get any kind of benefite or preferential treatment.
