Drinks were great, exotic and the place was atmospheric. Good place to take a date or just hang out with some friends. A good amount of people, but not crowded and enough background "talk" from other people, but not enough to interfere with your conversation.

You wouldn't think that such great food would come from such a little place.
We were wowed from beginning to end. Entrees come with soup, salad and coffee and generally run under $20. I highly suggest ordering the Grand Marnier souffle at the beginning of your meal to ensure enough prep time for the kitchen.

Their coffee is absolutely delicious and it is less than $2. It has a strong aroma and is much better than Starbucks. I would recommend drinking this early afternoon because it feels like you are taking expresso shots.

I was the only American in the whole restaurant, so that was a good sign. I like Express Pavilion in Chinatown a lot for its food and its also closer to my home, but 888 has way more variety. Everything was delicious. Service was minimal, which I like b/c Im here for the food, not the service. The wait is really long for Dim Sum on Sunday so come early and bring a book. This place is huge!--its fun to come here with out-of-towners or a big group. It can be a little intimidating at first-hailing down a cart-so if you feel more comfortable, go with people who have gone here before.
Note to haters: Different culture, different food, ergo, different language and customs and therefore different service. You cant expect than the in-your-face, do-as-you-please service thats at most American restaurants. As a server and servee, I personally like no-muss-no-fuss service such as at 888, but I think some people take that as bad service or rudeness. Just a note--be culturally aware of your surroundings. Its LA, dammn it.
Pros: Dim Sum, dessert, reasonable prices
Cons: packed on Sunday for Dim Sum so expect a long wait

Although not as clean as one of the larger chain pet stores, Garvey Fish & Pet offers personalized service with relatively low prices in a very close location, that is if you live in Monterey Park. They sell a wide variety of fish and pet supplies. Their selection isn't as great as the larger chain stores like PetCo and PetsMart since they only carry a few brands of the same product. They do seem pretty knowledgeable on their products. Their selection of live animals isn't that great but they do have lot's of fish. Unfortunately, street parking is very difficult to find on Garvey so you will probably have to park in the back.

Sure you might not go there to shop but its location is probably the best in the city. There's about 4 other shopping malls near this central store, with HUNDREDS of other stores, as well as a hilton hotel near-by. This area is probably becoming the next china town!
