Although I live only around the corner, it had been over two years since I had been inside. It has changed a lot since my last visit and it was all to my pleasant surprise. When you walk inside the dark grain of the wood and the smell of fermenting wine overwhelm your senses in a bath of anticipation to the upcoming flavors. They have added a wonderful shopping area filled with all kinds of cooking spreads and misc eats. The wine bar is just as welcoming as before and the staff is just perfect. I will certainly not let another long period of time go by with out regular visits to Lynfred.

Every time I visit Lynfred Winery I realize what a treasure this place is for the Chicagoland area. I am consistently impressed with the staff that work there. They are always friendly and considerate. In addition, the staff is knowledgeable on all of the wines and that comes from being familiar with them and having tried the wines themselves. Taking a tour of the winery is a fabulous opportunity to learn intricate details of the work Lynfred does. Some of their wines are truly outstanding. One of my favorites is a Cabernet Zinfandel I enjoyed recently. The aroma was wonderful and it was a simple and refreshing wine. Many of their wines have been award winners but besides those, they have a great variety of wines that are can suit any meal or party you have having. Their Gewürztraminer is lovely as well as a Riesling I once enjoyed there. I must also comment that their breads are outstanding. Perfect to serve at any cocktail party you may have in your home. Visit their gift shop to find wonderful gifts for your favorite wine lovers. Joining their wine of the month club is a terrific opportunity to try the variety of wines Lyfred offers.

This winery is one of the few in Illinois. It is a fun place to go on a date or with a group of friends. They offer tours and wine tastings during the daytime or evening for either couples or groups. The tour is decently priced at about $20 and you can sample various wines they offer with cheese and crackers. It's definitely something different to experience in Illinois. The wines also make a great gift to friends and family!

Lynfred Winery is one of the original places in Illinois that offers a wine lover a look into the creative and old-time process of producing wines. Tucked away in the Chicago western suburb of Roselle (5 minutes away from Schaumburg), Lynfred Winery is located within a beautiful colonial style home. The inviting entrance immediately gives the guest a feel of being at home once you enter. Once inside, you're invited to take in the smells and sights of one of Illinois' famous working wineries. Wine Tastings are available everyday at their wine bar. A gift shop is also present with a grand variety of different produced wines. Also, indulge in a classic wine cellar tour, conducted on a daily basis. Plus, the winery also offers a unique Bed and Breakfast experience. They have three beautifully restored and furnished Bed and Breakfast rooms for guests to stay in for overnight accomodations. Overall, a beautiful experience to have either for a whole day or even for overnight.
