In California we only have Michael's and JoAnn's and I know I'm going to miss A.C. Moore when I have to go back ... For one thing (and this is a big one for me) they don't donate (according to buyblue.org at least) to any political party. I like that they're not partisan. Aside from that, they are an amazing craft/gift store!!! I've gotten some fun games and books for my kids that are around $1, a book I almost bought at Border's for less money (not to mention they have 40% off coupons you can get from their website), and a great yarn selection! They have the yarns you can find at Michael's and JoAnn's (Lion Brand, Red Heart, etc.) and also some yarn I've seen at local yarn stores like Katia, Arucania Nature Wool, etc., and they even have some "no name" cashmere and alpaca yarn! Please, please come to the West Coast!

AC Moore is a great craft store in Rockville Md. They have all the basics, and more. The selection in every category of crafting is superb. They have a great selection in scrap booking, paints, wedding, flowers, yarn, and picture frames. They also have a good section on kid's crafts, as well as Thomas the Tank Engine train stuff! (usually on sale too!) In the front of the store is a great dollar section of toys and kits for the kids. They also usually have an eclectic selection of scarves, hats, mittens, socks, blankets and other seasonal items. Their prices are usually rock-bottom, but they have a full range of casual crafting supplies to supplies an expert would want. I love this craft store, and would visit every day if I had the money!

This is a great craft store along the same lines as a Michael's. They have just about everything you need for basic crafts. I suspect that if you were trying to do something super intricate, you may need to find a place more specialized, but overall their selection is great for the average customer. I also like their 40% off coupons that I get weekly in the mail which definitely help! They offer workshops regularly on various crafting topics, but I have not yet attended one. Overall, this store serves all of my crafting needs!
