ARC IceSports is a Rockville ice facility with multiple rinks. It
supports area youth hockey clubs, figure skating, and general family
fun, the last of which is none too expensive (none too cheap either).
ARC is pretty far away from the city, but ice rinks are somewhat rare
around here, and ARC is a new facility that is far nicer than other
local rinks.

I am not a member of Bikram Yoga, but I did look into it since yoga seems so popular and so go for you. What detered me was the fact that it was a single room place where you practice yoga in front of the entire shopping center. So, when you walk in, that's it. And the entire front of the place is closed in with a glass window. Not my type of place... I would feel really self conscious.
If it doesn't bother you, then go ahead, Yoga is good for you!

Green Acres has been around for over 70 years, and still has energy. THough some may say that it is going down hill, a legitimate claim, Green Acres is still a far better school than anything else. It is progressive, open, has wonderful teachers and a wonderful campus. Green Acres teaches kids to think and act as they believe, and in creative ways. A great school.

Montgomery College is a great place to take a wide range of adult education classes. The course catalog has a huge selection of courses from graphics arts, personal finance, language, travel, painting, career change, computer classes, cooking, language, history, travel, you name it. The class instructors are consistently good, and the costs is very reasonable. This is a great resource for the area. There are a lot of great classes here. There are a lot of business oriented classes for those who are interested starting their own business or getting involved in businesses. The school is located off of Rockville Pike just north of the downtown area of Rockville. If you are looking to take some classes to improve your skills or just expand your realm of experiences, I highly recommend that you check out the course catalog.

First, the database is limited to providing only one address; the Parent Resource Centers have three locations: two in Rockville, and one in Gaithersburg.
--------------
On the surface, the Parent Resource Centers are rooms chock full of toys. In truth, the PRCs are so much more...
Each location is staffed by an experienced Parent Educator; some even have two. Emory Grove, for example, has both an English and bilingual (Spanish/English) Parent Educator. These educators not only guide the activities at their centers, but are also a kind, supportive, experienced resource for questions running the gamut of parenting concerns.
Activity at the PRCs is largely unstructured -- its a fabulous free-play opportunity. In additional to the toys, ranging in age-appropriateness from infants through kindergarten+, there is always a table with play-dough or "goop." There are also easels for painting. And, there is a craft available for those kids interested in this.
What does have a fixed time-point is circle time. Led by the Parent Educators(s), this runs about 20 minutes, and includes things like rhymes, songs, a story, color/shape matching, finger plays and similar developmental goodies.
The PRCs are a bargain, pricewise. The fees are on a sliding scale, based on family income. However, if the fees are an issue, please speak with the staff to explore options.
A beauty of the PRC program is that it's essentially on a drop-in basis. Once you have paid your membership, you are welcome to use any of the PRC locations. And, you can come as often or infrequently as you choose.

I thought that the classes at this school were a waste of time 'cause all did was joke around, watch videos, and then take quizzes. There are many instructors and mine was funny and laid back, but he joked so much that I would write in my journal and not miss anything. I wouldn't have gone to this school if I had known it was like this, but once you pay for your classes, you can't get a refund! So attend a class and check out different schools.
This school offers classes on weekends and weekdays. It cost me $350 for 30 hours of in-class instruction and 6 hours driving. Students can do their in-car driving only after finishing all of the 30 hours of class. I missed two classes (one because the school was closed due to snow and one 'cause I was away on vacation), and rescheduling has been a pain. I've tried to reschedule but their classes are already full when I call even though I call throughout the week. I can't schedule classes too in advanced either so I'm rudely told to call back later. Yeah, the woman who does the scheduling is quite rude and has no patience. She acts as though you're bothering her for calling about scheduling classes when it's her job to do that. Since the school's scheduling is crazy, this means that I can't get my in-car instruction yet. I can only imagine the ordeal that scheduling in-car lessons will be.
People could read the book and save so much money if only Maryland state would stop requiring people to go to driving school!
There must be better driving schools. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Drivers education is a requirement for getting your Maryland License, so somewhat begrudgingly, I went to Drivers education with these guys. However, I really found the experience to be quite interesting. The teachers were informative and quite humorous at time and really worked to get the message across. My in car driving instructor was very helpful and very pleasant to chat to as well. This is a great driving school and I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
