The Little Theater is a real gem in the downtown Rochester community. It shows a surprisingly wide array of independent films ranging from the political to the artsy. You will find movies playing here that you just can't see anywhere else in town. The design of the building is also attractive, with an old-fashioned marquee and plenty of art deco charm. Ticket prices are reasonable and they offer various student, senior and membership discounts. There is parking in a rear lot or on the street, and a cute little cafe is right next door.

It is hard to find a great theatre that showcases independent films. The Little is more than just a movie theatre, though; there is art, exhibited by local artists, music and an amazing cafe that serves coffees, sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. You don't need to see a movie to eat in the cafe, which seats about 70 people. It is also open late during the week and even later on the weekend. There is also wine and beer served.
The films are well selected and demonstrate the finest in independent film-making.

I love to go to the little and see some of the films you never hear about. They’ve got all the off beat stuff and some of the stuff that makes it to the big leagues too. Plus they have food that is more than just popcorn and over priced soda. They have great cookies and squares. I recommend the molasses cookie!
