I have 2 kids in karate classes at UMAC, ages 8 and 5. Besides general martial arts techniques, each class has a discussion about 'real-life' issues that affect kids. They're socialization and conflict management skills have improved as a direct result of their karate classes. They are picking up the little nuances of socialization that comes with responsibility and respect of classmates. PLUS, the kids have fun. There is no pressure to perform, but all of the students seem so enthralled to be a part of every lesson.

I have been going to this gym since it was Great Lakes Gym many years ago. It is a very nice gym. I particularily like the treadmills and elyptical machines. I never have to wait to use one. They have all the typical weight machines in a gym and plenty of them. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. This is a great gym for a beginner or experienced weight lifter.

This is one of the top fitness centers in Rochester. It has fitness options for everyone. They offer many specialized classes, personal trainers, saunas and a juice bar for a poster-excercise treat.... anything a person interested in health and fitness could want!! The customer service personnel were excellent, and open to answering any questions that I had. The only downfall to Bally's was the cost. To enjoy all these fitness club perks, it was a little pricy.

Okay, I could lose a few more pounds so this place didn’t exactly work one hundred per cent for me but it’s a great gym with all the latest equipment and the best classes. They have spinning and yoga and pilates and everything you might want. Plus they’re open really late and you can work out at just about any time. But they do have a restriction on when you can use certain memberships.

There are a few Rochester Athletic Clubs in and around Rochester. The one I attend is for women only, though there are also coed facilities.
The gym has a large selection of machines and free weights. There is a decent amount of cardio machines, though more ellipticals would be useful, especially being that one or two are usually broken.
My gym has a good schedule of classes. However, I do not find the instructors as a whole to be too professional. For example, my yoga teacher was more concerned with watching herself in the mirror than to go around and adjust attendees' form.
Finally, the towels provided to the members to wipe down the machines are soaking wet and not replaced often, reducing the cleanliness.
