I cannot believe the negative reviews I read here! I have been a regular customer for 15 years - have strongly recommended them to friends and colleagues - and trust Scott Miller enough to even send my mom and daughter there! Not one of these people has been anything but DELIGHTED with their experience at Scott Miller Salon. Yes, occasionally mistakes have happened. No one's perfect. However, the few times I have had to raise a concern, I have received extraordinary resolution to the problem, and have been dealt with dignity and warmth. However, if you don't have the backbone to raise your concern in person with them, how can a proper resolution be achieved? The folks there are friendly and approachable. There's no excuse not to talk to them except for one's preference to anonymously complain. I'd rather focus on the exceptional haircuts, waxings, nail services, skin care consultations and family atmosphere that I have experienced 99% of the time at Scott Miller. If you trust yourself to be able to truly dialogue, you can trust Scott Miller Salon to deliver the same exceptional results for you.

Service itself was not met w/ a lot of expertise. Pros: impressive presentation-look/size, friendly, time conscious Cons: hype and skill doesn't match service

I'm originally from the NYC area, so I was looking for a new salon to get cut and highlights in the Rochester area. Boy did I make the mistake of my life. They're stylists are seperated by colorists and hairdressers, which is fine because this is what I was used to where I was originally from. I went to a young lady named Katie with (no personality, didn't seem like she was genuinely interested in keeping a new client) to do my color...I went in with light brown hair with light golden highlights...I told her that since winter was around the corner I wanted to go a notch lighter with my highlights, she proceeded to take a brush and start brushing my head with what looked like a very dark dye, but it was hard to tell when it's wet what color it really is. 15 minutes later she's done and eventually I get sent to one of the other girls to rinse. So the shock of my life was when I sit in front of the mirror and I have black streaks in my hair, with some of the original light gold highlights poking out from underneath. The color made me look pasty even though I had a tan. I was in such shock that I just wanted to get the hell out of there. I paid a whopping $160 + tip for this terrible service and the colorist didn't even do the blowout afterwards. When I got home my husband couldn't believe it, and the next day at work I had 6 co-workers ask me what the hell I did to my hair...I had had enough and I called the salon to see if they could fix it (something in my 33 years on this earth have never had to do before). Although the staff was nice in getting me into see the head colorist to fix it, the damage to my color was done. I has since been 7 months and my hair is still damaged. Since then I have made sure that everyone I know hears about what happened to me at this salon so they don't make the same mistake I made. I've met 3 different people that have not had good experiences in the same salon, I wish I had run into them before my appt. In my opinion the owner should have personally called me to apologize for all the torture and embarrasment I faced those 2 days, and refunded my money. Mr. Scott Miller if you're out there it's a shame that you probably don't know this is happening at your salon. Luckily I took my future business to Shear Ego, where wonderful Raquel has been slowly working with me to get my hair back to it's original condition. Pros: Where there any? Cons: Inexperienced staff charging NYC pricing

From some of the negative reviews here, I would think they were talking about a completely different salon. I have been going to Scott Miller for 3 1/2 years now and quite frequently. Not once has anyone ever been less than cheerful, friendly and helpful, from the greeters at the front door, to the young women when I check out. Sarah is the best in the color department. And Maria has give me the best haircuts ever. Whenever Jason has washed and finished my hair, I get non-stop compliments. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely, every penny for me.

I had heard great things regarding this salon. i found the stylists to be rude and conceited . As I sat waiting for my appt.,2 of the stylists discussed makeup and looked at themselves in the mirror for 15 minutes. The cut I finally got was a bit uneven and not what I asked for. I left before the stylist could cut more off and totally ruin my hair! The price was ridiculous,I have had better cuts at the Hair Zoo, and for half the price. dont waste your time and money....

I have been seeing Lee at Scott Miller for about 8 years now. He is a great cutter( razor and scissor).He has a great eye for hair design. I've never had a bad experience with him. I've been colored , manicured, pedicured, massaged, waxed, and body scrubbed there and have only had one negative experience ( one massuse bruised me during deep tissue massage. I let the owner know and I was given a gift card for the cost of the massage, and the massuse was let go- she had other complaints, too). Hillary is great with spa services and Cindy is great with nails. I love that the stylists have frequent workshops with the reps from bumble and bumble, to keep up with the styles. I have been to alot of salons over the years and have always been thrilled with Scott Miller Salon. Yes, the front desk girls can be a tad aloof . Pros: Great staff, great services, alot of spa treatments, good value for your buck Cons: Usually full parking lot, aloof front desk girls

I was feeling pretty bad about my hair and called on a Monday on the off-chance I could get in on the same day. What impressed me initially was the friendly operator. Not only did she check the schedules at both locations, to which she had full access, she asked me about my hair and had some thoughts about who the appropriate stylist would be. She had me leave a number then, as promised, she called me back within minutes to inform me of a cancellation, and to let me know that the person that would see me would also be a good candidate for me, even though it wasn't the person she originally was thinking of for me (I have special needs with my hair!). I got in within the hour. Upon my arrival the whole staff was friendly, professional and natural. (I don't know why anyone would think otherwise!) My stylist, Nicole, was an incredible listener. She was forthcoming with advice and lessons, and made wonderful suggestions. She didn't cut any more than was necessary, and was cautious and respectful. When I wanted a little more cut off she obliged with ease. I felt very privileged to be in the care of such a great stylist. She is a terrific person and the experience was excellent. The price for a wash and cut: $37---was I dreaming? The cut was worth way more! It made me feel good about leaving a really big tip. I am definitely going back there again.

I am a paying customer and they turned me away! I mean just because what I wanted done would have taken a few steps and possibly a few hours the stylist said that she wanted to do a test strand ONLY and if it turned out OK to COME BACK ANOTHER TIME! I mean I am sorry if what I wanted to pay to have done was going to interrupt any plans that this stylist had going on outside of work but come on I had made the appointment to get highlights. I had the appointment at 7:15 and I arrived at 6:45, they didn't call me back until almost 7:30pm! I showed her a picture of what it was that I was looking for and she just stood there feeling my hair and commenting on the color and said that it was NOT achievable....now this may be true but I also explained to her that it did not need to be exactly like the picture just some highlights to give it some boost. So she said that this would take longer than 45 mins. and she turned me away with NOTHING!! She didn't even give me any other suggestions on what else could have been done.I mean if these are supposed to be highly trained stylist don't you think that they would have given some other suggestions as to what else could have been done, instead of turning me away and refusing to service my hair?

I don't understand all of the negative reviews here! I have been to this salon 3 times so far (for massage, manicure and hair cut & color). All of the times have been there have been great! The stylists are wonderful and really know their stuff! Their product lines are the best around (Kerastase, Bumble & Bumble). They are a tad pricey, however, any nice salon is expensive. Totally worth the pricetag!
