Rick will take the time to teach you about any cheese in the shop (most unique to the shop or of better quality then supermarkets).

Coming from Manattan to live in the burbs, you think that you'll have to give some things up; especially great specialty food. What a shock to discover the Cheese Shop. The owner is truly an expert on cheese and other specialty products like olive oils and vinegars. Everythig seems to have been hand selected, and is the best of the best. It's rare to find someone willing to take the time to help you find something you and your guests will truly love- even if it means sampling ten cheeses to find the ones that you want. The breads are amazing as well. What else could a foodie ask for!

I grew up in Ridgewood and have LOVED the Cheese Shop. Now that my family and I have moved, we can still get our cheese fix by ordering and having it shipped. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone today was extremely helpful and very courteous. My dad will be getting a phenomenal Father's Day gift thanks to the Cheese Shop!

The Cheese Shop of Ridgewood is worth a trip. Although trying to park in Ridgewood can be a challenge, the quality and variety of cheeses available make it well worth the effort. Think of all the things that are better with a good hunk of cheese - fruit, wine a nice piece of fresh bread. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

Samantha B. and her boyfriend walked in, and we all noticed the attitude written on their faces. We aren't Quiznos, or a fast food JOINT. If you order 2 sandwiches and it took one woman longer to make them than it took another employee to make one, should we be put up against the wall and shot? If you were in such a rush, you should have ordered them ahead as most everyone else does. Yes, as far as asking you to leave the store, I did that because when you received your sandwiches you chose to scold and berate ME, and no one should have to put up with that. All our meats and cheeses and are cut fresh and that's what takes time. As far as you thinking it was our food that made you sick, maybe it was your foot in your mouth.

My friend and I went to the Cheese Shop today, thinking it would be nice to get a sandwich and go to the park across the street on our lunch break. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. It took almost a half an hour to get two sandwiches when there was no one else in the store and there were three employees behind the counter. The man behind the counter who appeared to be the owner got angry with us when we inquired about the status of our order, ignored us, and refused to check in the back to see what the delay was. When I expressed frustration at having to wait close to a half an hour to get two sandwiches and was annoyed because someone who ordered after us recieved their order 5 minutes before we did, I was tod toGet the hell out and never come back.
WOW!!!
I dont know if it was a function of the fact that I was upset or if it was the food, but the right side of my mouth was swollen and numb just after I finished eating my sandwich. I also felt sick to my stomache.
I had a miserable experience. Please take your business elsewhere and patronize buisnesses who care about their customers and want their experiences to be pleasant. I still cant belive how poorly we were treated and how poor the service was. I will obviosly never go back and I would strongly reccomend you go elsewhere where to an owner that will appreciate your patronage as opposed to this owner who feels like he is entitled to it.

Located on the main street in Ridgewood (center of town on a corner), this store is pretty convenient. Of course you are dealing with the normal Ridgewood Problems (way too many people and not enough parking ever). The place is cute and has way more cheese than you can even imagine. I must admit- I am not a huge cheese fan at all, but they really have some good stuff. Just try the honey goat cheese- I never thought i would say this, but it is to die for!! If you know someone who is a cheese fan, then get a gift certificate so they can go and try it themselves. I suggest staying away from here on huge holidays (think right before Christmas eve)- it gets beyond busy. very nice place.

If you are a cheese officianado, come to Ridgewood's wonderful Cheese Shop, which has been a local since the 1970's. Inside you will discover wonderful selections of cheese that will make you a return customer.
Situated on a corner of Ridgewood Avenue, the Cheese Shop has more than 200 cheeses available for your selection. You can choose from domestic or imported cheeses--great if you tire of those old blocks of cheddar you buy at the supermarket. The sheer variety of cheese is what makes The Cheese Shop a staple of the community and New Jersey.
Besides delicious cheeses, they offer ers, caviar, vinegars, and other gourmet food choices. This would be a wonderful place to visit if you are assembling a gourmet food basket around the holidays.
The Cheese Shop offers gift boxes that have a sampling of cheeses for you to give or keep! For example, their Cheese Lovers Delight box has 8 oz. selections of seven cheeses, such as French Brie and Canadian Cheddar. This gift box costs $50.99.
It is easy to find cheese options under twenty dollars, however. This is a fun place to browse and a cheese-lovers paradise. Don't miss a trip to the Cheese Shop if you venture into Ridgewood.
PROS: Spectacular gifts and variety of cheeses
