Fan Thrift has saved me SO much money on bikes, kids clothes, shoes, books, toys, and so many other things -- they price everything super cheap and just set it up on racks -- it's a favorite of college students and frugal people from all over the city --
My kids grow so fast I don't want to spend lots of money on their clothes, so places like Fan Thrift are a must have for me!

If your children’s clothes are still in excellent condition then I would highly recommend selling them to the Children’s Market. If accepted they offer much more per piece than Kid 2 Kid and Once Upon a Child. They do only accept well known brands that are in immaculate condition, which means you’ll be taking a trip back to Goodwill to drop off what wasn’t accepted.
I’ve been able to find great prices on boutique dresses for my nieces here also

Maymont is a unique place with animals to see, beautiful gardens, and the nature center. You can pet the animals in the petting zoo area and feed them with food bought from machines. The walk through the park is up and down hills, so be aware of this with small children. The nature center is interesting but was really built too small. It is hard to get around in there if there are many people there with strollers.

Regency Tire and Auto is a fair and honest car repair shop -- when one car inspection location failed my car on a number of points they shouldn't have checked anyway I went to Regency tire and Auto who re-inspected the car and passed it -- I really respect not being treated badly by a mechanic and I recommend the good ones as often as I can!

Well I must say that I LOVE Ukrops. They opened one about one mile from my house and I was there first day. They have everything! A café where you can buy coffee and other treats. A very nice sushi area where that make it there, fresh. A nice sized bakery where they have very good (but slightly pricey) fresh baked bread. They have a good selection of food in the other areas. They also have a nice little eating area outside with chairs, tables, and sun umbrellas.

It's really something special at the Tobacco Company, they have a full bar, excellent menu items and specials, an old elevator and decor fitting the time period that the building was created for --
They even have a stage on the first floor where bands often play and seating on the upper floors that allows for people there to see and hear the music!

The Virginia Historical Society is a wonderful place to take your family or just go alone to learn about the history of the area and struggles of people from the first residents of Virginia (Jamestown) to the Civil War to the present day -- it's free on Mondays which is understandably the day that many field trips come through but memberships are reasonable and you can go whenever you wish --

Stony Point Fashion Park has nice restaurants and a nice fountain area where they allow children to play. The stores are very expensive there. There is no reasonably priced stores- only high end. the mall is small, so there is not much to do. It is not worth the trip to that area.
