I don't know how some other reviewers are writing negative comment on this restaurant and why. Is it vengeance or another Indian restaurant's agent? I have frequented this place over many years and not even once had any chance to complain about anything. I have also visited other recently opened Indian restaurants in town. Almost all of them try to duplicate what Indian K'Raja does, but they fall way short on food quality, taste and the service. I hav travelled to India on several occasions and I find the India K'Raja food quality and taste challenges the Five Star hotels in India. Undoubtedly the Best Indian Restaurant in Richmind.
Pros: Freshness, taste and service
Cons: None observed

I am an Indian and fond of trying all the indian restaurants when i am staying at any place. I ordered some paneer tikka masala from this place which was one the absolute worst ever since i have landed in the usa. IMO this restaurant should not even pass as an authentic indian food. Miles away from it. Avoid unless you are dying.
Pros: none
Cons: pathetic food quality

My wife and I went there last night for our anniversary and were extremely happy with food, sevice and the atmosphere. Our waitress was so pleasant and charming, she made our dining experience very enjoyabvle. The food was outstanding, by far the best in Richmond. I loved my Lamb Rogan Josh and my wife enjoyed her Chicken Biryani. Gulab Jamun were the best I ever had. We will be back many many times.

Trying to find a good restaurant in Richmond is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, so we've limited our dining experience to lunch. My son and I tried this place for lunch during the weekday. While it was not bad, it was definitely not what we were used to. The vegetarian options were limited, there was no mango pudding for dessert and the chai tea I ordered was almost bitter. I noticed they didnt' t have tandoori chicken or chicken tikka masala (usually a staple) on the buffet either. Even the naan tended to be a little on the dry side although they did claim it was buttered. While it did slightly satsify my craving for Indian food, I probably wouldn't go here again. My packaged Trader Joe's Indian food tastes better than this.

Great Service. Worst food. I went there for a Monday Evening Buffet around 8 pm. The food was Old and stale. I wish I can take pictures and post it on here. I had to ask for fresh Nan to be made. Then the Sweets Ras Malai was actually spoilt. The spiced milk had turned sticky- Please beware of food here, you might get sick. And Exorbitantly expensive.
NOT Recommended even as the last resort. Go to nearby McDonald, Taco Bell or Burger King to get your food for the moment, but avoid stale lousy food.
If you are looking for just the ambience, nice smile, great service, then this can be the place.
Pros: Good parking, Nice service, good smile
Cons: Stale food - unhealthy- There were flies around the buffet stall.

We went there last Saturday for the first time since we moved to Richmond from NY in August. The restuarant was very busy and a few people were waiting ahead of us. However, we were promptly greeted by the waitress passing by. She told us the wait time and went her way. Someone else seated us after a few minutes. I was expecting we will get slow service and have lousy meal from what I had read in a couple of other reviews on this site(which are so not true). I was totally happy with my experience at this restarant. Our order was taken promptly and the drinks & food came out pretty quickly, considereing how busy the restaurant was. With all the hustling and bustling, it still wasn't too noisy. The back ground music was setting the ambiance quite well. The chicken tikka masala was wonderful with fresh garlic naan. We loved every bit of it. The waitress was very pleasant and prompt. She brought us the Indian beers that we kept on ordering very quickly. I will go back to India K' Raja every time I want Indian food now. It was really awesome.

I am glad I went there this past Monday. They were serving a dinner buffet and I was so happy to see goat curry and shrimp vendaloo on the buffet. The food on their buffet was so fresh and tasty and it was really inexpensive. I stuffed my self so much, totally satisfied. The waitress was awsome friendly and very cute too. She kept checking on me often even though they were very busy. The owner was also helping around serving other customers. It seemed like more than half of hem were regulars. I felt at home and thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. What a wonderful meal in a nice atmosphere with cheerful people around. No wonder they are voted best year after year. I loved it an will be back many many times.
Pros: Food, atmosphere, service and cleanliness
Cons: None

I am an Indian and have taken friends and colleagues from all over the world to different restaurants in Dallas, Washington DC and the Silicon Valley. The good ones tend to be quite crowded, even on weekdays. Service in most places tends to be "can do better". Most do not serve alcohol. The restaurants in DC and in California are much better than those in Richmond. Dallas ones are good too.
India K Raja is different - hardly any crowd. A little pricey compared to other indian restaurants. They serve drinks. The menu is more or less the same as others, but the quality is poor. The items taste stale. On my second visit i had ordered some south indian items. The Dosa, Sambar and Chutney all tasted bitter - probably the batter was very old. I determined never to go again to this place.
Would not recommend it. Try something else.
Pros: Ample parking, Decent Ambience, Serve Alcohol
Cons: Food is not good - Taste is bad, Ingredients aren't fresh, pricey for this quality of food

I love Indian food and I have been a regular at this restaurant since it first opened several yearsa ago. I have yet to find something to complain about my dining experience here. The food and the staff here are absolutely delightful. Its the delicious food, friendly service and clean atmosphere that keep me coming back week after week. They served my favorite Goat curry specially to me one time when it was not on the buffet because they knew I loved it. I have even made friends with some of the other regulars and there are so many I run in to at this restaurant. Occasionally, I dined at other Indian restaurants who recently came in to being and it seemed like they all tried to mimick India K' Raja...but fell way short of it. Thank God we have India K' Raja in Richmond.
Pros: Delicious Fresh Food, Friendly Service and Cleanliness
Cons: None
