This is the best.
Don't go any where else.
Service- none better.
chips and white dip is to die for.
and the food is great to take a extra dish home for tomorrow.
Pros: Best in town

As I travel alot, this is a really good local Mexican restaurant, food is good and hot, service was very friendly. You can't beat the value with good food at a good price.

We used to go to the Don Jose's on Hull Street, but we now go to the new one on Route 10 in Chester.
The food is better at this location, and we have never had a difficult time getting in. It is one of our favorites.
Pros: Great food, prepared quickly, and served hot!
Cons: Can get crowded at times

We weren't sure what to expect given the location in an older shopping center at Hull and Turner, but as soon as we entered the clean, cheery interior, we were pleasantly surprised.
We visited on a week day evening and were quickly seated in a comfortable booth and brought a heaping basket of crisp corn chips (we were later offered a refill), white sauce and exceptional salsa with an ample aroma of cilantro. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout. A huge order of chicken fajitas with side of refried beans, a huge entree consisting of a mushroom quesadilla (containing about 100 sliced mushrooms), a spinach burrito, a potato enchilda (unusual, but interesting), a soda and a Dos Equis was just under $20. I normally finish entrees at Mexican restaurants, but had enough fajita leftovers (which was LOADED with chicken) to box up for lunch the next day. Of course, had I not eaten so many chips...
The only areas for improvement are to supply more than one napkin (I asked for extras) and to provide each patron a plate for the chips and salsa, but to be fair, those are gripes I have with nearly every Mexican restaurant.
We've been to five different Mexican restaurants in the vicinity and we'll definitely be going back to Don Jose.
Pros: Price, portion size, friendly/attentive staff
Cons: Location

Pay attention, people from Texas and New Mexico! I am from the southwest and know good Mexican food...this is not it. Their "premium" margarita contained cheap tequila and the enchiladas and burritos have cheese whiz and a generic (and not fresh) red sauce in them. On the plus side; the wait staff was very courteous and the service was excellent.
Pros: Friendly staff, excellent service
Cons: Cheap ingredients make a generic meal.

After reading the other reviews, I was kinda shocked that the food was just run-of-the mill. Maybe I went on a bad night.

I've been going to Don Jose's for going on 4 years now. My family and I are now to the point where we usually go AT LEAST once a week, sometimes 3! They have very friendly service and we are practically treated like family! Don Jose is BY FAR the BEST mexican restaurant that I have ever been to in Virginia. Nobody compares when it comes to service, price, and great food!
Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Service, Affordable Dining
