Swimming is a valuable skill to learn, especially in the northwest where water is abundant. Swimmers Lane is a family run business in Renton, off Lake Youngs Road, one block off Petrovitsky, off Jones Road, by Route 18 and 169/Maple Valley Highway.
The water is warmer than most pools, 92 degrees as opposed to 85. Classes for level 1/2 are 3 kids max. It costs $15 for a 30 minute class. At Swimmers Lane, the students are taught the proper technique of swimming. The teachers are patient. Visit them at ( http://www.swimmerslane.com/index.html )
Rev (12/06): I have spoken to the other parents and here is a negative about this school: There really isn't a formal end of the classes, so, there realy isn't a formal way to move your child to the next level, unless you press them. As such, I don't think they are really results-oriented as another competing school in the area. Unlike what they say on their web site, a child can be stuck on one level, say level 2, for a whole year!
In addition, they took away the make-up class option. So if your child missed two classes, for a flu for example, on a four week month, the remaining 2 1/2 hour class session are now $30 a piece. Do the math...

More
My family rented two different apartments at the Madison at Fairwood Apartments. The staff were super friendly, especially the maintenance guy, whom we saw regularly. I was not impressed with the new paint job they did on the buildings nor with the prices that kept going up and up. There are not a lot of places to park, so if you come home later in the evening, don't expect to find a parking space close to your building. They did put in a new playground right before we moved out so there is a nice place for the little ones to play. One thing we didn¹t like at all was that there are power lines that go right down the middle of the apartment buildings. It's very unsightly and had we known about them before moving from the other side of the state, we probably would not have rented from the Madison. I would also not suggest getting a bottom floor apartment as they are partially underground and with all the rain, it can mold underneath the windows of the bedrooms that are right next to the dirt.

One NE 4th, right near the post office, you'll find a Brown Bear car wash. There are several different cleaning options, and the cheapest one you can get is $6.99. In the same lot, there are also several big vacuums that take one dollar's worth of quarters (takes quarters only!). I'd bet most people can get their whole car cleaned in the amount of time it runs unless you've got kids! Then you'll probably need at least two dollars worth of quarters...

A coffee drive-thru has recently opened up on Lk. Wash. Blvd. near Coulon Park. I found the customer service to be great and the coffee to be fine... my non-fat decf latte was on par with Starbucks, which is not my favorite (a little bitter) but is okay. When I ordered my drink I forgot to say I wanted it iced. When the barista started to hand the hot drink to me, I said, "Oh, did I forget to say I wanted it iced?" and she cheerfully offered to make a new drink. I was impressed since this has happened to me before at other places and I usually get a little attitude. The location is on the right (when heading North) between the two Coulon Park entrances.

Vitmar Euro foods carries a variety of European foods that can be hard to find in this area. I am not crazy about the location of the store but the store itself is useful when you are really searching for that specialty item. They are great at looking stuff up when you are on the phone, so call and check that they have what you need. Lots of parking here so it has easy access.

“Yours is an online dealership everyone with a passion for cars should visit. I was awestruck at the range of options and features this dealership website offers. I did not need to be anywhere near this dealership to fix up an appointment for service. I was sitting miles away, and this was the first thing I did on getting up. I didn’t even have to wait till the shop opened; the website facilitates this wonderful option, whereby I could do all this with just a few clicks of the mouse! I think this is what an online dealership has to be –bring what we need at the actual dealership to its website. Renton Honda has thoroughly succeeded in this.”

This place was nice. I went here a few days ago and was satisfied with the results. They did a nice, plain, clean looking job. I would reccomend. Cheap and well done job. I reccomend to someone who wants a job well done for cheap. Not too clean though. Not too impressed with that part.

Well what can you say about Wal-Mart that hasn't already been said? This one has a great location, if slightly hard to get into the parking lot though. The traffic coming off the freeway and into Renton makes it hard to get there sometimes. I can see why there's accidents around that store.
I like the layout of this store. I roll right into the Women's section to check out the clothes, and go further back to the baby and kids stuff. It's nice that they have a small freezer/food section now.
This store is always crowded no matter what time of day you go, because it's the only Wal-Mart until Auburn, and heaven forbid a Wal-Mart going anywhere near the Eastside! That would lower home values too much I think. ;-)

I went to this BK last night at about 730pm, and after watching the "crew" and night manger stand around and b.sing for about 5 mins, I made my move. I asked the manager, who had no name tag or even anything from BK, if she was ready. She stood there for a sec, gave me a look of okay and said sure, why not. Then she told me she was not suppose to take my order, she was on a break. (Note: no other person was around) I ordered a sandwich and a chocolate shake, which totaled over 6.00 and bam, a crew person came up to the front and said we have no chocolate shakes, they were cleaning it. At that point, the manager and crew member starting blaming each other for not telling the other one about it, meanwhile, the manager is still trying to make change from my 10 I gave her. Finally, I said, forget it, I'll go somewhere else. She said sorry. As if she was even remotely sorry. This place was dirty, unclean, and even much unwelcoming. I am so glad I didn't eat there. BEWARE THAT CLEAN DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS PLACE!
Pros: None
Cons: Extremely bad place
