First, here is a http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/248654_checkbook17.html to a P-I article entitled, Listing Offers Lowdown on Plumbers. If I knew then, what I know now.
Let me tell you about how it took me two weeks and cost me $50.00 just to have four plumbers look at a project in a vacant apartment in my Ballard 4-plex.
About a month ago my husband called Aurora, Fischer and Best, at the urging of our owner-partner. We did. Turns out only the latter two work on commercial properties, so we scheduled times for technicians to come out. Fischer showed up, on time and turned around a bid in a timely fashion. It was higher than we expected so we kept looking. Best was up next. Note: they require an appointment window (8-12 or 1-5 or something like that) to look at the job and will charge for the appointment. We were charged $50.00. The technician was late and talked over my head. The bid was promised for the next day, but was not returned for three additional working days. The bid was very high.
By the way, neither Best or Fischer have followed up on their bids.
About this time the P-I ran the above noted article. Thankfully we caught it and on a whim called Jim Button who came out two days later, looked at the job at no charge (and even helped my husband replace our kitchen faucet during the call) and returned a reasonable bid in a timely manner, in spite of the fact that he had to attend a funeral for a friend in the meanwhile. We booked him and the work will be completed in a week.
I also stumbled (via Morgans in Crown Hill) on Scott at Simple Solutions. I talked to him, but he was booked solid. I liked that he used to work at Morgans and that they spoke highly of his work and customer service. It gave me the feeling of that "I know where you live" leverage.
I've been saving this story for just this moment. Good luck.

I did not need to be anywhere near this dealership to fix up an appointment for service. I was sitting miles away, and this was the first thing I did on getting up. I didn’t even have to wait till the shop opened; the website facilitates this wonderful option, whereby I could do all this with just a few clicks of the mouse! I think this is what an online dealership has to be –bring what we need at the actual dealership to its website. Renton Honda has thoroughly succeeded in this.”

I can't tell you how many times I've talked to moms who have said, "I didn't need La Leche League, I didn't have any problems breastfeeding." or, "La Leche League couldn't help me, I just didn't have enough milk."
La Leche League is for every breastfeeding mother who could use some support, encouragement and information. Even if things are going swimmingly, chatting about mothering through breastfeeding is always important to new moms and things come up, even if they are minor, its likely another mother has experienced what you are going through.
As for milk supply, there are rare true occasions of insufficient milk supply, but they are generally linked to a hormonal issue or severe hemmorhaging during childbirth. Often times breastfeeding management is the culprit and LLL can help put things in perspective.
La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.
Membership in La Leche League International is $40 for one year. Membership fees help to support your local Group and the international organization. The benefits of membership include a one-year subscription to NEW BEGINNINGS magazine.
However, there is no requirement to pay for help. All phone help and meetings are free. All Leaders are volunteer moms. If you find a Leader you just don't click with..try another meeting or call another Leader.
La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.
La Leche League is a valuable resource for breastfeeding and expectant mothers. The best thing to do is to check out a group near you when you are in your last trimester (or earlier). That way, you get a network of support in place BEFORE you have the baby for those crucial early days.

My wedding cake was to die for! Seriously, we completely ran out of cake and people were unhappy that they didn't get to try the two different flavors we had! Who knew that all the guests would want 2 or more pieces of cake per person! People still talk about that cake today, how weird is that for a wedding cake? Note, my wedding was in 2002, but I'm guessing the quality of the cakes by Creme de la Creme is still high.
Check out the flavors and fillings and all the photos on the website. The website isn't very fancy, but you will get a definite idea of how good their cakes look and taste! They didn't have a showroom in 2002 but it looks like they do now, down in Renton.

I wanted an elegant but simple cake and they delivered just what I pictured. We had a three layer cake with white icing decorated with real flowers that matched my bouquet. It was stunning yet simple. I wish I could remember the layers we chose. One was chocolate with some kind of filling, maybe a hazelnut filling? The other was white cake maybe with a raspberry filling. We couldn't have been happier with our wedding cake.

This is a newer store owned by two of Fairwood’s own residents. It’s a nice quaint little shop that has wine tastings almost every Saturday. The owners are HIGHLY knowledgeable, I went in looking for a gift wine for a friend of mine and had no idea there were so many choices. They helped me choose an appropriate (and fairly priced) red wine that my hostess loved. I highly recommend the Wine Alley!

I shop at Fred Meyer's every time I have household, garden, clothing, and groceries to buy, all at the same time. I like their low prices on Kroger brand goods. They've upgraded their meat department, which used to be our main complaint. Now we are willing to buy a steak, or deli meat, and often find our bacon, hotdogs, turkeys etc. There jewelry department is also good. Many of the Fred Meyer brand fertilizers are lower than anywhere else. One thing to watch for at Thanksgiving is they usually offer a free turkey if you buy $100 worth of goods. What a great treat for customers. Their rewards system is pretty good, too.

I love the service and the donuts are the closest to crispy creams that one can get. They have a great selection, and it's a very cute little shop. I just love this little donut shop!
