We went to dinner recently at Armondo's and had a wonderful evening. Our server Dana was pleasant, informative and very prompt with her service. They gave us bread with olive oil & balsomic to start with, what a nice touch. The server suggested their calamari, how wonderful it was, it was a steak instead of rings. It came with 3 sauces that went great with it. I had the eggplant, my husband had the lamb shank. Both dishes we mouth watering. The lamb was so tender it just fell off of the bone served with a wonderful flavoral sauce and yukon potaoes. For dessert we had tiramisu, which was made there at the restaurnat and you could tell, it was so fresh and tastey. We both would highly recommend this restaurant. We dine out alot and found everthing to be of high quality from the olive oil to the lamb shank including the staff. Even the manager (sherrie) stopped by the table to see how our evening was.
Pros: Ambience, service and food
Cons: parking

From the bogus salads, to the pile of slop lasagna, (with what may have been cheddar cheese on top?) to the tomato sauce that has canned mushrooms and bell peppers in it, to the snooty service, to the classless dining room, they just miss. I for some reason, have been there 3 times for nothing more than the lack of anywhere else to go in Renton,, but this was the last time for sure. Reminds me of olive garden. I'm saddened to read the good reviews because I guess my neighbors in Renton just don't know what good Italian food is, or more importantly,, means. The cheap pomace garbage olive oil they gave me to dip my bread in was simply an insult and our server told us they had just switched to "cheaper, lower quality oil" because of high food cost? What? Come on Armondo, where's the love bro?
Pros: close to my house
Cons: not good food,, sorry,

The restaurant has long held the title of best Italian restaurant in Renton, and it is no wonder. The food is excellent and is provided in such quantity that customers frequently ask for a doggie box to take the remainder of dinner home with them. Prices are also noticably moderate. This place is worthy of repeat visits.
Pros: Food quality and quantity, moderate prices
Cons: Customer talking can be a bit loud when restaurant is full

I went with my co-workers a while back and thought the food was great! The chicken was tender, the pasta wasn't overcooked, and even the salad was tasty (great dressing, too). I even ordered the salmon to take home to my husband and HE thought it was great...and he's picky when it comes to seafood. The previous reviewer obviously did not read their menu, though. Caesar salads MAY be substituted, but it DOES state on the menu that there is an additional charge. My solution? If in doubt, ask.
Pros: Decent service, good food
Cons: Parking

The Service was slow. I ordered the lunch special and was asked which I would rather have Soup or salad and I said What the choices are and they told me all the choices. So I picked Ceasar and they charged me extra at the end. I complained about it and they would not take it off my bill. Soup or Salad comes with the lunch !!! I think they forgot their own menu. I will never return there

It had been a while since I ate at Armondo's but now that I've moved to Renton it was time to go back. Actually, the day I showed my partner Michael the house I wanted to buy we went there for dinner to talk it over. Much like a prior reviewer there didn't seem to be anyone covering the hostess stand but we went ahead and seated ourselves at the bar and ordered a martini. The gal who was working the bar was pleasant enough although she was busy covering tables and the bar.
We had our martini and ordered dinner including starter Ceasar salads. So far so good. The Ceasar's were good and we got extra anchovies just the way we like. For an entree I ordered the eggplant parmesiana. It was very tasty and I had enough for leftovers the next day (dreamy for me). Michael was able to order the puttanesca (his favorite Italian dish behind pizza) but he had to ask them to NOT put in the eggplant in their version. He can't stand that particular veggie and he thought it odd that it was included in the ingredients - but at least they did post it and they make each batch to order so he could ask for it to be left out. I think that's a good thing in terms of customer service.
We had a glass of wine each with dinner and called it good for the night. We'll be back for sure since it's pretty close to home now.

Ate there for the first time and wasn't impressed with the customer service or meal.
The wait staff was friendly but our main waitress never returned to the table once the main course was served. The meal was OK at best but overpriced for what we were served. When did spaghetti and meatballs start costing $15?

This restaurant touts fresh, authentic food; not bad, could improve. The menu hasn't changed much in the past several years. The mussels are reasonably priced for the amount you get; but they could be fresher still. Prices are comparable to other restaurants of the same cuisine; and definitely better than a chain, like Cucina Cucina. Not a romantic setting. Their former location afforded more of a romantic, cozy ambience. I have visited Armondo's at least 2-3 times since I originally wrote this back in Oct. 2006. This last visit (today, May 30, actually), was a disappointment. Come to think of it, our last 2 times were not so terrific. The service was slooooow!! When we were seated, we passed one of the waitresses, who was standing there by the front door (not a greeter of course, but didn't even look at us to give some kind of welcoming smile). Lo and behold, she turned out to be OUR waitress! It went okay, and she did check on us, but she complained the plates were hot and heavy and nearly dropped them in our laps. I would suggest Armondo shell out some money and give his customers a variety of breads (eg. molasses, pumpernickel, rye, flatbreads) to go with their butters. They seem to serve the same dry bread. Also, their dinner salad leaves much to the imagination.....all those greens, two small puny slices of pepperoni and one chili pepper. I felt like a rabbit. I don't think throwing in a tomato and an artichoke heart would eat into his profits. Overall, too predictable, too boring, needs better customer service. I was also told they have a full service bar; so I ordered a Pina Colada. "Sorry ma'am, we don't own a blender. So that eliminated the rest of the drinks I was considering ordering (e.g. Blended Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri). Go to Maggionni's in Bellevue and compare.
Cons: Bread before dinner; service; bar offerings
