Stopped in last night for the 1st time for a bite/brew and must say that for a pub in downtown Renton, this place rocks! Huge freaking hamburger, well adorned, great fries and fast/friendly service made it worth venturing out in the cold. Many, many local beers on tap (always a good thing) and a barkeep who knows his pours....yeah!

We had dinner here the other night after a long day of painting at our new house in Renton. Considering my partner, Michael, had read 2 bad reviews about it before he was skeptical as we walked in. Let me tell you, he had nothing to be skeptical about. We both really enjoyed our meals and we will definitely be back!!!! I had the Kansas City (BBQ) Chicken sandwich which was very tasty - even when I had bites without chicken in it the freshness of the other ingredients made it tasty. I also liked the option of regular fries and sweet potato fries. You have other options too but these were the 2 we took advantage of that night. Michael had a burger with bacon added and he made easy work of finishing it off. To complete the meals we both had ale that evening. Michael got 2 different flavors and I had the cask conditioned Black Butte Porter - a fave of mine. Given the nice list of ales on their menu (and on draft) we will be making this a regular "stop" for us in Renton! :)

My husband and I have made this lovely little restaurant our "date" place. It's casual and always welcoming. The staff there always remembers us and what we like. The beer menu if fantastic and is constantly being updated. I tend to lean toward the burgers and their cranberry gorganzola salad is fabulous. My husband loves their daily specials which is very interesting (Blackened Salmon Burger, Anduille Sausage with Cream Cheese and Peppers). The owner will come right out to greet and chat with you and the bartender will remember your drink and the waitresses will tell you like it is. It's wonderfully refreshing and I always look forward to coming back. If you decide to do dinner there, DEFINITELY go for the Teriyaki Skewers....YUMMY!!!

We have been frequenting the Whistle Stop Alehouse for nearly 10 years. The original location (across from the dinner train depot) was flush with history so we were afraid they would lose some of that character with the move, but the food is still great (actually better), the menu is bigger, and there are more seats for happy patrons. Expect a great beer selection, friendly people and great food. Jeff (the owner) will tell you they have great bacon, but that's not my thing. And yes, although it was originally a pub they are well setup for kids.

as a 21-year-old female it's a bit intimidating to walk into a pub/bar and genuinely have a great time. luckily, i discovered the Whistle Stop Alehouse. i always sit in the 21 and over section and i am always served by Darren, the weekend bartender. i love the food although the menu is pretty limited. the owner is always around smiling at everybody. Darren is an amazing server and i always look forward to their breakfast menu on the weekends. it seems like the kind of place where you can be left alone and at the same time feel perfectly at home.
