Mt. Olivet Cemetery is the most beautiful cemetery in the area in my opinion. It's on the top of the hill towards the Renton Highlands and overlooks Lake Washington and Seattle. They have no rules or restrictions on flowers and grave ornaments and let you grieve the way you need to. They have a pretty Gazebo on one end and grave markers dating way back into the 1800's. We were told that the Indians were buried on one side and the whites on another when the cemetery was first started.

When our baby son passed away my husband called around to the local cemeteries and the guy at Mt. Olivet was so compassionate and friendly under the circumstances. We decided to check the cemetery out and found it to be beautiful and they didn't have a lot of rules about what kind of stones you can put up for your lost one or what kind of flowers are acceptable. They let you greive in any way you see fit and they treat you kindly and with respect. I believe they went above and beyond even giving us a discount and allowing us to perfrom the funeral on a Sunday with little extra cost. They also treated my son's body with care and on Monday (a holiday!) they buried him for us. Their kindness and thoughfulness means more to me than they'll ever know. This is an older cemetery which adds to it's charm for being a cemetery. I really dislike the cemeteries that are flat and have no meaning to them and they really creep me out to be honest. But at Mt. Olivet, I feel more like I'm in a park under many trees and rolling hills. You may even find a deer eating around the grave sites. The view is amazing coming down the hill leaving the cemetery. You can see all the way to Seattle over Lake Washington.
