Today I took in a car I was considering purchasing to Jay's Auto Repair in Renton for a new car inspection service. It was a rush job and he got me in on one hour's prior notice. After one quick peek under the hood, the mechanic informed me that there was an oil leak, which was enough of a negative for me. The mechanic then added "if I were you, I'd steer clear of this car, it's been altered under the hood and I suspect it was a kid's car." After that feedback, my mind was made up so I asked them not to continue the inspection. He handed me the keys and to my surprise, he said "no charge" and gave me a big smile. I really appreciated the upfront feedback and personal opinion, not to mention the generous "no charge". Knowing nothing about cars, I would never of known that the engine had been altered. I took my car here when the transmission blew. They did a great job on it and the price was very reasonable. I felt like I could trust them here and they did an excellent job at getting my car back to me in time. I enjoyed their service and they explained to this car dummy exactly what was wrong and what they were going to do to fix it. No hidden costs.
