I thought it was nice going to a small local zoo, but I didn't think the animals would be in such small cages. It's really sad to see a lion and lioness in a cage the size of my bedroom! Don't they need space to run?? :( The management was very friendly, and everything seemed clean enough, I just left feeling really bad for the animals.

The last time I went to Sierra Safari zoo I was so incredibly disappointed to see the animal's pens left in complete squalor.
The poor liger (lion/tiger half-breed) was left in a huge pen filled with sage brush, tumble weeds and dirt. There was not one single thing that made us feel like the animal was in his natural habitat whatsoever.
The deer and goats in the petting zoo area are starving for food and practically knock full grown adults over when you walk through the gates. And the buffalo appears to be very unhappy in a very small pen.
I will never go back to the sierra safari zoo and I sincerely hope that they close down and send the animals to real zoos where they can be properly cared for.
