This is my favorite restaurant on the Eastside. I love the warm, enchanting ambience. The food is always amazing. I especially love some of their specialties like the Prawn and Avocado Pizza, Ahi, great and fresh seafood entrees, and their desserts are second to none. The service is always exceptional and friendly with staff always satisfying my special requests. And, where else can you get a wide selection of fresh shucked oysters? Beside all this, the happy hour is exceptional offering nearly half off their great selection of appetizers and dollar off most drinks!! Will keep coming back!
Pros: Wonderful Food, Excellent Service, Oysters, Perfect Happy Hour

What a great place! The Rockefeller style oysters are to drool over, the Paella has a nice American spin on this Mediterranean classic and the Mahi-Mahi is yum! Try the pan-fried oysters and also the prawns. They go out of their way to satisfy the customer... so don't hesitate to ask for this or that adjustment on the menu. The wine selection isn't all that great - but not awful either. It's on my list of places to visit regularly.
Pros: service, ambiance, food
Cons: N/A

Drawn to the restaurant by the outdoor seating on a sunny day, I expected at least an adequate meal from a restaurant in this price range. The only enjoyable part of the meal turned out to be sitting outside. The service was slow and the wait staff pretty apathetic, it took a long time just to get the bread for the table, not to mention the meal, or the check. The chicken in my chicken sandwich (~10 dollars) took up about 1/3 of the bun and was accompanied by room-temperature flavorless skinny fries. I could have spent 2 dollars and had a much more fulfilling and tasty meal at Red Robin. Hope this helps in your decision-making!
Pros: Outdoor Seating
Cons: Food

We met a friend of ours for dinner on March 6th, 2007 and had a nice experience with ordering dinner and drinks in the bar area of Matt's. The place was hopping when we were there around 730pm but our server was attentive and friendly the whole time even though she was clearly busy.
First we ordered a round of oysters to share. We're always big fans of these and that evening we chose the Snow Creek and Kumamoto types for our dozen and those were gone almost as soon as they hit the table. Rick was enjoying beer and we had martinis (gin) and then switched to wine with dinner.
Dinner consisted of the prime rib for me and Rick. I liked what was served with the prime rib but I have to say the cuts of meat we got were a little less than what we were expecting. Rick thought they tasted like ham initially and I think that came from the big slab of butter they put on both of our entrees.
I agree with him though. The cuts were okay, but not fabulous. I'm sorry to say I can't recall what Michael had that evening. I know we'll come back but I usually keep my hopes from getting too high even though I know Matt's is one of the places that is considered on the higher end in Redmond.

I have a difficult time with most restaurants due to my food allergies. A plain steak and no butter on steamed veggies is what I like.... it sounds simple but rarely do I succeed. Matt's was similar in execution to many of my experiences. I ordered as I always do "no salt, pepper, au jus, no butter, no special or secret sauce, is it marinated?, I need it with nothing, dry and boring". I sent the first steak back because it was over salted - but the waiter questioned and the kitchen swore that there was nothing on it. The second one came salty... but no so bad. I was told again that there was nothing on the steaks until after they were grilled and then a lemon butter thing was put on unless you asked for nothing (I didn't get the lemon butter - whew!). When I called this morning to double check the chef said they salt and pepper everything on the grill. Clearly the kitchen staff is missing the meaning of "nothing". Salt and pepper are fine for me.... something when people say nothing could compromise their health.

We (at our office) have been there several times. Matt's has friendly service and a nice (business appropriate) setting for a lunch. Last year we had our company Christmas party there, and I have had my last 2 employment reviews there. So to say the least I speak for several people at our office, in saying that it is usually our 1st choice for a quick lunch.
My favorite is the Halibut Sandwich, the also have yummie salads.
