A desert in the middle of Washington? Not sure about that one or the food here. We only ate here once but we won't go back after experiencing some rather average food.

The room can be bit noisy with all of the wood and stone. But it's large enough to keep conversations private.
Pros: Good food and drink, great breadsticks
Cons: Noisy

We are regulars and always have a good experiance. The service is always pleasurable, the food is really good and if you have kids, they have a great kids menu. Includes ice cream too. :) Our favorite waitress is Helen, she is always very accomodating. If you go, try the chicken wrap or taco salad for lunch, for dinner try their signature enchiladas and they have a wonderful Sunday brunch. We have never been disappointed with anything we have tried. Also, if you want to have a private lunch or dinner, they have a great little banquet room which we have used, just call and request it for larger groups. Go and try it, you won't be dissapointed.

Desert Fire is conveniently located in the Redmond Town Center parking lot. Big restaurant with good service. Food is fair and the place never seems to be really crowded. Kind of a southwestern type of cuisine here. Worth a try, but nothing overly spectacular. If you're looking for a place to eat during peak hours, this is a good place to try because they never seem to be as busy as other places.

I used to go here almost every week; the waitress knew me and my boyfriend by name. The food and drinks are pretty good, though a bit overpriced. And the desserts are rotating and always amazing.

It seems that lately the food has gotten a lot better. We know that the owners had split away from the Azteca restaurant chain, and since then the menu has changed considerably and the quality in food and service has really improved. We liked the food before, but we have really noticed a difference lately.
I highly recommend the Chile Rubbed House Sirloin. What a fantastic steak - super tender and hands-down one of the best steaks I have had. You can tell these guys really care about their food and service. They even post their entire menu on their website (www.desertfiremex.com).
Check it out - if you don't like it I'd have to wonder what the comparison is.

My family and I tried Desert Fire and walked away less than impressed.
Initially, the ambiance and decor looked very promising. The outdoor seating area looked nice as well. Unfortunately, that was about all that was good about Desert Fire.
The tables were too close and I felt crowded the whole time. The menu was extensive and had a lot of great tasting items. I ordered the Southwestern Halibut and Chips, my wife ordered the Carne Asada (sp), my oldest daughter the make it yourself soft taco, and my youngest daughter some chicken strip dish.
My fish and chips were ok, nothing spectacular. The batter on the fish was thin and rarely crispy. When I squeezed lemon juice on my fish, the batter immediately became soggy.
My wife complained her dish was nothing like she thought it was. Partly she was comparing the same dish with other Mexican restaurants like Azteca and Toreros. She just shrugged her shoulders and ate the dish but ultimately it was not as good as she had hoped.
The kids' dishes were ordered off of the "kid's menu" but it was not very kid friendly. Their juice selection was limited to orange juice and...that was it. Milk and pop was available as well. The dishes came on regular plates and I was afraid they were going to break them at any time (my kids are both younge then 5). The make it yourself soft taco appeared to be decent and was probably the only dish that was good at our whole table. Our oldest daughter actually had some fun making and eating her tacos.
My youngest daughter barely touched her chicken strips - more like a lot of french fries and a few pieces of chicken. She kept wanting to eat the soft tacos from my other daughter's plat. The chicken strips were nothing to write home about. I mean how hard is it to make chicken strips? A choice of fruits would have been better instead of the fries but then again it's my fault for not asking if that was even an option.
Ontop of it all, the prices were a bit high for the medicore quality of the dishes. The nachos looked good though.
I won't be going back to Desert Fire.

The food and atmosphere at Desert Fire are very uninspiring. I had tamales that were so dry they were basically inedible. Desert Fire is pricey and I expect a lot more for my money. The wait staff usually too busy gossiping to notice our empty drinks. I believe this restaurant is owed by Azteca. And your regular neighborhood Azteca would be a better choice for a night out.
