Wow, can't tell from outside. Once you walk in, you get taken to rustic look of a small cozy restaurant in Italy. This is great for a dinner getaway without the fancy dining business. It's also for just a cozy date night to experience little italy. They even take prime card, so great. I love their pasta and wine selections.

The minute I walked in the door I knew this place would not disappoint. The exterior is a bit fooling and it is not until you cross the threshold that you realize the little gem that is Tropea. We went to dinner on a Friday night and the entire restaurant was filled with chatter, laughter and families getting together. It felt like I had stepped into New Yorks Little Italy. The ambiance was A+, the food was A+ and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating.
I would highly recommend this place to someone looking for a romantic neighborhood restaurant, families, and people wanting take-out.
Do give this place a try!

My husband and I have been looking for a GOOD local Italian restaurant. On a recommendation of a friend and babysitter with the little ones, we went to Tropea in Redmond.
We got one of the last tables at 6:30 on a Saturday evening. The crowd of Redmondites were casually dressed in this low lit cozy restaurant. The waiter, who my husband swore was hispanic, greeted us with an Italian accent. He was charming and attentive. I don't care if the accent was fake, I enjoyed it!
The house wines were delicious--we enjoyed two glasses each. The rustic bread went great with the very garlicky olive oil.
We ordered the breaded calamari which, unfortunately was not so good. The calamari was a bit rubbery and the breading was tossed on the top. It wasn't what we expected, which is fine, but it also wasn't good. We think it was burned...but since everything else was good, we'll chock it up to an off plate.
My husband ordered a creamy tortellini with proccutio
which had a delicious smokey flavor. It was very heavy. I had the veal marsala which came with a side of rotini. I would have preferred spaghetti with red sauce, but this was fine. The veal was tender and delicious.
We had tiramisu for dessert which is probaby the best tiramisu I have ever had. You could really taste the espresso which had us buzzing all night!! The waiter said it was homemade.
The ambiance, service and food made for a wonderful dinner. The prices were very reasonable and we will be back...maybe with the kids because they do have high chairs!

there was nothing outstanding about tropea but it was very good food and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with attentive, fun waiters. yes, there are plastic tablecloths and some cheesy decor but don't let that stop you - it's part of the ambiance. they are great with a table for 2 or 20, and every dish is as delicious as it sounds.
since it's located in a strip mall, parking is a breeze. don't let the strip mall reference scare you away - it's really a solidly, consistently good place to go.

I've been looking for an Italian restaurant in Redmond since I moved here with no luck. Last week I happened upon Tropea Ristorante Italiano hiding in a little strip mall just off Redmond Way. I'm so glad I did, as the food was excellent. Once you are inside it doesn't feel like a strip mall, and it certainly exceeded all my expectations. While it wasn't cheap, it seemed like it was more reasonably priced than comparable Italian food I've sampled.
Giddy-up.
