An Up to Date Library 6/1/2006

Somehow they have managed to burrow hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of art, which is a nice embellishment to a learning site and their quiet places to read. The children's computers have software that entertains as it teaches. People who still have VCRs have many options in this system; the DVDs tend to go fast. They have dozens of computers and free wireless access. It's one of the best ways that our government spends our money. more

King County Library System 5/26/2006

My son DEVOURS books and it is often nice to go to the library for free instead of spending money at the bookstore. The King County Library in Redmond is a newish building (probably less than 10 years old if I remember correctly). They have a kid-friendly kid's section, complete with colorful characters on the wall. There's even a restroom that's supposed to be for children only, or children accompanied by adults (although I've seen adults sneaking into it without children, tut tut). You can check out up to ONE HUNDRED items at a time! They have self-checkout scanners or you can have one of the friendly library staff do it for you. They've expanded their parking lot so it's not such a tight squeeze any more. more
