Where to begin?
Prices are on the high side, especially considering this is in one of the most crime-ridden neighborhoods on the South Shore.
Food is so-so at best. My veal was tough. The Marsala sauce was sickeningly sweet and heavy. And bread was of the Chinese restaurant variety, not something one would expect at an Italian eatery.
We were there on a recent week day night. Despite the fact that there was room to spread people out, we literally had people on top of us, listening to and attempting to get involved in our conversations. Not pleasant.
And don't get me started on the no credit card thing. Really folks, it's the 21st century and few people carry around the cash needed to feed a family of four at this place.
Finally, even a very slight requests to modify one of dishes was flatly denied. The waitress was apologetic and agreed that our request was reasonable, but apparently the owner also does the cooking and he doesn't like to deviate from the way he likes things done. Take it or leave it! Thanks, but we'll be leaving it.

Recently, I attended a rehearsal dinner at LaScala. There was buffet that was good but they did not refill it so many were left without full bellies. The waitress actually told one person they could not have any more veal b/c they had already had one piece! There was also not enough staff working the room and the bread, drinks were difficult to come by. Stingy for a buffet, not a great atmosphere for function. If you are hosting guests, look somewhere else.

Family style italian restaurant just south of Boston. Food portions are huge and very well made. Home made salad dressings and sauces are very good. RECOMENDATION have the Bread Pudding, best I have ever had. Huge and very moist with a nice caramel sauce.
If your ever in the area I would definitely recommend this place. great food for low prices.
Pros: great food, low prices

i have just left and got home from eating at la scala and wow what an experience i checked it out online to see how it was rated and definatly should have listened to the warnings.. I always like to try some place before making that kind of decision though. We got there and was seated within 20 mins which is really not bad. Our waitress took like 15-20 mins to get our drinks. Then we ordered our food they were out of my fathers calamari.. I can handle that. After we order our food we sat and talked for awhile about 45 mins to 1 hour later the manager came up to us and told us that one of the orders they did not have... Ok still they could have told me that 30 mins ago but at that point i was still ok with this resturant. We were with a party of 11 to other groups at least were seated 15 mins after us and they were almost done there food by the time ours finally came out. So we ate the average but over priced food and when the waitress was clearing our table she accident dropped a plate the fork bopped my aunt in the face and all the did was leave. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE THERE LET ME TELL YOU. No i am sorry no manager came over my aunt has a welt on the side off her face and they just gave us the bill and said thanks for coming. GOD I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST NIGHT MARE. You might recieve a concusion from them and they do not care.
Pros: i do not see any pros with this place
Cons: they abuse the customers and do not care

I go out to eat a lot. I try restaurants in all different price ranges and of all different cuisines, and I'm always very forgiving and willing to try a restaurant again if my first experience wasn't so great, but I will never again stop at La Scala. I should have known by the mass of poorly-parked Buicks and Town Cars in the parking lot that this was mushy geriatric fare, but I was feeling like old-fashioned, red-sauce, Jerry Vale-on-the-radio Italian-American food. The exterior was a mix of Gotti and gaudy, which usually is a clear indication that meatballs and mozzarella lie within, so my friend and I ventured inside. What a mistake. Without making eye contact or greeting us, the clearly disinterested hostess coldly showed us to a table, amidst overtly flashily dressed patrons: Think furs, costume jewelry, and at-home hair dye. One or two young Eminem lookalikes were "treating" their girlfriends to dinner at this "fancy" restaurant. Prices seemed pretty reasonable, and the selection on the menu was vast though ill explained (The mysterious "Chicken Creation" sounded more at home on an Engrish menu on Kneeland St.) I decided to go with the old standby of chicken parmesan over linguini, and my friend chose the gnocchi which came with a salad. The salad was simply inedible: wilted lettuce and mushy tomato convalesced together in a pool of thick dressing. The produce was only slightly younger than the patrons. The chicken seemed to be a Perdue frozen cutlet smothered in canned marinara sauce. Both my linguini and my friend's gnocchi hadn't been drained, so there were pools of red water beneath our soggy pasta. My friend didn't touch her meal, and I left half of mine. The waitress never asked us how our food tasted and was too busy waiting on a larger party seated next to us so we left enough cash on the table to cover the bill and tip and made a final exit. Bottom line: If the nursing home cafeteria is busy and you have money to burn, try La Scala.
Pros: My friend and I will always be able to laugh about our trip to "that heinous restaurant"
Cons: Food, service, ambience, etc...

My boyfriend and I by chance decided to try this restuarant out. It looked unique from the outside. When we went in, the atomsphere was very nice. There was a 30 min wait so we got some drinks. We both didnt' have cash and figured they took credit/debit cards.. BUT they don't. So there is a ATM in the restaurant and when my boyfriend tried to take $100 out, only $20 came out b/c the machine ran out of money, so he had to leave and go to a local bank and get cash.. Besides that inconvience, the food was delicious and our waitress was promt and attentive. I would recommend this place but only if you bring enough cash. Also the menu was reasonably price which def. was a plus!

I had high expectations of this place when refered by my friend. The atmosphere was very romantic but everything else was....From the look of the menu, the prices were fairly reasonable but to our suprise the bill was far from that. My friend had 3 sodas each filled to the top with ice leaving her with about 5 sips of soda and to find out that refills were not includes was outrageous. The quality of the dishes were less than expected and they don't except cash! So be prepared!
Pros: atmosphere, romantic, dessert
Cons: no cash accepted, food, drinks

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, it was very romantic, but the food was not as good as expected. We ordered 3 dishes and only one of them was decent. The sauteed calamari had a strong fishy smell to it and it didnt taste that great. The veal roberto had way too much wine in it. You can't tell what you are eating, all you taste is wine. This restaurant don't even take credit cards!!! They had an atm machine in the restaurant for those that don't have cash on them. They also don't have free refills. The soft drinks had so much ice in it that after 3 sips, you need another drink. My friends and I paid $20 just for soda and there was only 2 of us drinking soda! Overall this restaurant is not worth the wait!
Pros: location, parking, romantic
Cons: No credit cards, no refills on drinks, food below average
