Younger crowd will fade away due to price and service, Flank steak is usually inedible. surprised they are still in business.

I wanted to tell you about my dining experience at Admiral Risty.
We took my grandmother out to dinner at Admiral Risty. The service was less than spectacular. It was not bad, it was just not good, (it was not up to the level of service we are used to when dining at fine dining establishments). We eat at Admiral Ristys about 5 to 6 times a year for special occasions. We always go with about 10 people and our bill is usually around $500.00.
I ordered a diet coke with my dinner. I later asked for a refill. When we got the bill, I noticed that I had been charged for 2 diet cokes @ $2.50 each. It irritated me to think that that a restaurant of this caliber would be so petty as to charge someone for a refill on a soda. After all, it is a fountain drink that costs pennies a glass to refill. It is not the price that is so irritating, it is the principle of the thing. Spend $500.00 in a restaurant and get charged for a refill on your soda... ridiculous.
Then, the icing on the cake and by far the worst part, was when I went to complain to the man who appeared to be the manager, who later informed me he was the owner. I told him that our service was not very good. Do you think he apologized? No, he coldly said, well show it it the tip. Nice professional response. The when I complained about the refill issue, he said We aren't Carls Jr. Another professional response.
The moral of this story is... that they have just lost 10 loyal customers over a refill of diet coke and the bad attitude of the owner. These 10 people will now go out and pass it on to our friends and other family members.
I hope whoever reads this will boycott this establishment based on principle. I used to be a loyal customer, but the owner is a jerk!! So, I will find somewhere else to dine and I hope you will too. Cheers

We had lunch on Sunday September 17. Nice view of the ocean. At night the view will be dark. Everyone was satisfied with their food. I too would say that the food is slightly over average. I had the halibut with almonds on it. It was pretty good and not over-cooked. Everyone got the same sides of fried potatoes and a steamed medley of vegetables. A small cup of fruit was served to all. Our server was good. I liked the ambience with all the seashell lights. Of course collecting those shells today is "prohibito". The restaurant was quiet, except for the two small children nearby who could make some really loud sounds. The parents thought that by talking quietly to them they would respond in kind. It didn't work.
Pros: Good view while there is light. Ambience

During My dinner at this restuarant I have never experienced the disrespect I have gotton there. We were a party of 5 and sat expecting to have a beautiful evening. We where rushed. The Rack of lamb was served practicaly raw. The Filet Oscared was terrible. The waitress was terrible. She picked up a empty plastic wrapper from oyster crackers and put it on my girlfriends salad to take the plate. She wasn't finished. So The waitress just put her dirty fingers in the salad removed the plastic wrapper and put the salad back on the table. We contacted the Co Owner Wayne Who hung up on us several times and didn't even apologize. He was very rude along with his staff. I wouldn't recomend this restaurant to anyone. For that kind of service I could have got better in a Mc Donalds. I rate this establishment ZERO.

For $180 I could have got better service in a Mc Donalds. I rate this establishment ZERO.

The food itself was slightly above average, nothing spectacular by any means. I had the "famous" halibut, and was happy with my choice, but not overwhelmed by any means. The atmosphere is very nice, cozy, quiet enough to talk to the person next to you, and great views. The wait staff did a great job as well. The value, however, left much to be desired. Two barely above average dinners and one drink each for over $85 including tip? Everything on the menu seemed to be about $10 overpriced. You may want to try it yourself, but I know I've had much better for much less in places like Redondo and Manhattan Beach.

A very good restaurant that consistently gives very good quality and good sized portions. They have been in the area for many, many years - too bad they are not open for lunch.

Not only is the food and the view fabulous but the service was superb. Jimmy F. really knows how to make his customers feel welcomed. His suggestions were well received from the entree to the dessert. Flank steak, grilled halibut - entrees come with your choice of soup or salad, a vegetable. The caramel orange pecan bread pudding was comfort food at it's finest.
This is definitely a primo date place and remember to make a reservation.
Treat yourself and someone you love to this wonderful, lofty, ocean side hide-a-way.
PROS: Food, Service, View
CONS: Reservation Highly Recommended
