My closest thing to a country breakfast being Cracker Barrel, I didn't know what to expect at Big Ed's. We went on a Monday, so it wasn't very crowded, which is good because I didn't want to have to deal with smokiness inside. We got a table and my husband ordered two pancakes but the waitress convinved him that he would only be able to eat one. She said "y'all look pretty little and I tell ya, if you can eat this one and still want another, it's on me!" Well she was right, the pancake was huge, about an inch thick and the size of the whole plate (not much room for syrup on the plate even!) But my husband said it was the best pancake he had ever had, so that's a good sign. I ordered a scrambled egg with a sausage patty (which looked homemade) and we shared some biscuits. The biscuits were freshly made, fluffy but not sky high. Prices were pretty expensive, though, for a down-home breakfast. Maybe when you comme you'll order the brains n eggs!

To me, Big ed's in the ultimate southern breakfast place. the food here is absoutly fantastic, made to order, and done in typical southern fashion. The resturant is typically a breakfast hangout, and is also open for lunch. last time i checked they closed pretty early (I'm thinking 3pm). It is a very popular location for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, so if you're headed out be prepared to wit, and for some great food.

i have really enjoyed hitting upn big eds for breakfast. they ahve a homevooked breakfast, and otehr meals and the setting feels like you're somehwre out in the boondocks on NC, not right smack in the middle of downtown. its nice to have a country feel in the middle of the city. The food is also pretty good, which helps the situation.

Big Ed's City Market, located on Wolf Street, in Raleigh, offers inexpensive food and plenty of it. Big Ed's is not your big city dining restaurant though. It is more of a greasy spoon with diner fare. Think chicken and dumplings and black eyed peas. If you are in the mood for down home cooking, give Ed’s a try.

Big Eds is one of the best places to go to when you're looking for a great tasting breakfast. Big Eds is decorated like an old country restaurant, and serves old country cooked food. Yesterday I went and gor two eggs, bacon, grits, 2 bisquits and a tea all for $5. This is excellent inexpensive country fair, and well worth a trip whether you're a raleigh loca or just passing thruogh.

When I was younger, my family and I would go there every Sunday. We would bring our relatives, and any one else we would have staying w/ us! It was a great place for kids to go, for they have many things hanging from the ceiling, its just a really fun and cool place... plus they have great food!
I think Big Ed's scrambled eggs and sausage with grits, gravy and bisquits( with a couple slices of tomato on the plate) like they always do is undoubtedly the BEST breakfast anywhere.
