Before Central Carolina was taken over by Sun Trust, any time I needed something I called a local branch. Today I tried ordering checks. The 800 number for the company that supplied my checks refused to accept an order because I "had never ordered from them before" and suggested I contact the bank. I found a number for my branch in citysearch, however numbers for branches listed in citysearch now go to a centralized Sun Trust phone menu system, which is extremely clumsy. Though I expect the worst anytime I have to deal with a phone menu system, this one is especially horrible. It's very difficult to find an option that will connect to a real person. After two attempts, I finally got to a representative who was very helpful.
Pros: Numerous brances and ATMs in the N Raleigh area
Cons: Bad news phone menu system

I have been a patron of this branch since March 07. I believe that the reviews I have read are untrue. I personally feel I get more personal service from this branch than any other location. I love they way everyone knows my name, my account is always handled in a timely manner, I never have had a problem with any deposits of funds, my payroll automatic deposit is always on time or early, and I have had been able to order coins for my collection and have had no problem with any banking transaction. I do have 1 complaint, the branch is not big enough, it does get crowded.

Words can not begin to describe what has gone on with this bank. Since my problem began, I can't believe the negative comments and websites about this bank. We have the Federal Reserve Bank looking into our issues. There are BBB reports in every state this bank is in and they're not good! SunTrust Bank: Save yourself the headache (unless you enjoy popping Excedrin Migraine pills)! Despite their name....DON'T trust them!
SunTrust's Funds Availability Policy states that they will notify you if your funds are put on hold. Other banks notify you at the time of deposit if they are going to hold your funds. Also other banks will also mail you a notice from an IN STATE LOCATION (you receive it in1 - 2 days).
Sun Trust mails their notices from Atlanta. It will take a week to get to you. In the meantime then, try to get assistance from their reps (see below)
Branch Customer Service: If you phone, the branch does little to assist with situations. They are located in a Kroger and simply want to get you off the phone. They will do this either by lying to you to tell you what you want to hear, or by simply hanging up on you!
Customer Service through 800 #: This person was nice, but did not have a clue what was going on. She read something off a screen, which she did not know how to interpret, and which proved to be compeltely false info.
This inadequate bank is located in a Kroger. The only clientele they can successful accomodate are folks who CANNOT get a bank account anywhere else and thus are desperate.
BOTTOM LINE: If you have good credit, and are serious about growing your money, do yourself a favor, and take your business elsewhere. If you don't have the time to physically go into the bank several times a week (the only way to get something done with them), bank elsewhere. Don't expect them to be like a real professional bank!

PROS: Location inside Kroger, Busy convenient Intersection
CONS: Customer Care, Call Center, Online Banking, Mail Distribution, Policies
