My absolute favorite mexican food restaurant of all times is Dos Taquitos in North Raleigh. It's a lot more expensive than your typical joints, but the food is to die for. I am especially fond of the steak tacos, and hubby likes the Enchiladas del pueblo.
The decor is something you HAVE to see. When you go in and ask for a table, if there is a wait, you will be given a toy. Possibly a doll, truck, snake, or even a monster. There is an outdoor patio with a folk-art-garbage type fountain, and the decor is shabby chic. Inside there are little huts and the decor is changed very often. it's fun to go and see what has been changed since the last time you went.

We were introduced to this restaurant by friends of ours who say it is the best tex-mex food they have found since leaving Dallas TX. It is great food, the atmosphere is a little quirky but just adds a sort of amibiance that you may not find in other restaurants. It is very popular, so anticipated a wait if you go there on Friday or Saturday night. The patio is great to sit out on and drink some cerevaza or one of their margaritas. Anything you order with steak is outstanding. The wait staff is iffy at times, but if you are willing to overlook that, you are in for a treat. A good place to go on a Friday night after a long week at work and meet up with friends.
