One of the greatest values for our golf dollar. The greens will get you and the challenging layout offers a very true test of your golfing ability. Water comes into play more than a dozen times over the length of the course. Greens at their best are fast with very few flat lies.
No Micky Mouse holes at River Ridge. A must on every golfer's list. They even serve beer finally.
Pros: challenging, attractive layout, worth the drive

River Ridge is a great test of golf. The course offers a wonderful test in target golf. RR will test your mental game more than your golf game. The undulating fairways/greens provide an accurate gauge to your ability. A few of the holes offer the "grip it and rip it" opportunity that so many golfers seek. Maintain patience and you will be rewarded. Consider joining the course. The practice facility is very nice.
Pros: value, practice facility, strong test of golf
Cons: , pace can be slow

Day to day, the best track and best value for your money. While other courses in the area go into "winter maintenance" mode, RR is always a pleasure to play. It may have the three best finishing holes in the area. 16... a long par four which requires a fade off the tee and an accurate mid-iron over water. 17 is a heartbreak par three where you simply can't miss the green. 18 is a great gambling par 5... Short, uphill, with a second shot over water. This is a better course and a much better value than Duke.
Pros: groomed, good layout, reasonably priced
Cons: lotsa houses, no clubhouse

Very challenging but fair course, as good as Neuse and the Challenge, a little better than the Crossings, Riverwood, and Falls Village. More than a few extremely memorable holes.
