Have been to Angus Barn many times. Ask for what you want. Think of menu as starting point. Have had custom orders all the time. For Special occasions ask for Table in celler. Went there on 20th anniversary. Six to Seven course meal with wine for every course. Able to talk to chef as he prepared our meal. My wife loved the tips. $100 per person. Worth every penny. Great steaks and seafood. Have eaten at all the big name restaurants in North America and some in South America. Still in top 5. On a regular meal night can call, get in and out in 1 hour. Better than any outback waiting line. Have 2 great steaks and sides for $90.00 with leftovers for breakfast. I can't get out of other resturants in town for under $70. $20 to be a human - priceless!!! Service is best. Anybody will stop and get your drinks or fix any issue. Week nights busy with Business clients, try Sunday night. Have great buffets at holidays.
Pros: Service, groups, special rooms for couples
Cons: Busy. Make reservations

No matter which char-Grill I go to, the food is always fresh, hot and made the way I ordered it. Great food for a great price. The one on Atlantic has specials on Sunday and Mondays. So you get more great food for less money. If its too cold to wait outside, just phone in your order and it will be ready when you get there. Oh, I'm hungry now. Id like to see a Char-Grill go up in the Wake Forest area.

I have tried almost everything on the menu at some point and have not been disappointed once. The new fall football menu has been a nice touch with the addition of Nathan's hot dogs. The only downside is the smoke, which should hopefully be corrected in January 2010 when NC institutes the smoking ban. I have never had a bad experience with the service and have made quite a few friends among the staff (Go Sox!). Great atmosphere to watch a game, listen to live music, or just hang out with friends.
Pros: Entire Menu, Atmosphere
Cons: Smoke

Judging by the tone of the review below, I think the attitude problem lay with the diners. We order takeout from ShabaShabu almost weekly, and dine in about once a month. The staff are always courteous and the sushi is fresh, well-presented and (most importantly) delicious!
Last time we were there we ordered a bottle of wine that turned out to be unavailable that day. Our waiter, who was very personable and enthusiastic, recommended a similar offering... it was more expensive, but they charged us the price of the bottle we originally wanted, saving us around $10. Overall, the prices are very reasonable; I'm not sure why, but sushi in Raleigh tends to be WAY overpriced in general. I've been to pretty much every sushi place in town, and the quality you usually get at a comparable price is terrible (I'm looking at you, Sushi Blues).
I don't really like Thai, so I can't speak for that half of the menu, but the Japanese offerings are stellar. The seaweed salad is the best I've had anywhere. Try the Hurricane roll, Yummy roll, or good old-fashioned Futomaki. For dessert, try the green tea ice cream. You won't be disappointed : )
Pros: Best sushi place in Raleigh, with courteous service!
Cons: none!

(Brazilian and Cuban w/ some Italian thrown in for good measure) - There might be some issues with the size of the place, even though the owners have recently made renovations, that doesn't stop Oakwood from being one of the best kept secrets in Downtown. The food is absolutely addictive. I started going there on the advice of BlackytheLawyer who knows his food and I must eat there no less than three times a month. I think they must put "coca" in the charrisco steak, its that good.
Plus the wait staff consists of the owners' drop-dead gorgeous daughters, they could not be more attentive, helpful and again, straight up hot.
Go for lunch, if you can get a seat. I promise you, you'll be back two, three times later that month. -Whitey

This is a great place to eat & hang out. The food is delicious & has some of the best drink specials in Raleigh. I've read some of these reviews & can agree that service is not always the best & the manager they did hire did mess things up. But I know for a fact there are people who work there since the good days and are all about saving the place.
*The management is back to the way it was
*it is a family owned business!!
*its fresh homemade food
*yes changes did have to be made, cause the place did go thru bankruptcy, so we did have to change from the large pour, & free Blue Cheese with everything
I guess I just dont see how people can have 1 lil complaint & swear off the place, maybe read into whats really going on there, maybe ask the people there, instead of reading some random complaint from someone who probably never even worked in a restaurant.
The place is still great and full of good times, don't believe me come in & check it out, and check it out again if ya are one of these people who has to swear the place off, maybe you were to hasty and did come across that one bad apple.
Pros: Great food & atmosphere w/ great prices
Cons: bad apple here & there

Well, first off, I had my wedding and reception at Cafe Luna, and the service, food, and staff was excellent. The price is ver. reasonable to have a wedding and/or reception at Cafe Luna and the atmosphere of Cafe Luna is wonderful. The dark, rich hardwood floors are beautiful and the details of the rooms are beautiful. Ryan and the other staff there were very nice and planned my event without a hitch. A few weeks after the wedding Cafe Luna sent us a 50.00 certificate so we could come back and enjoy a dinner. The food was excellent, the server was very nice. I got the Fiochee, four cheese stuffed pasta with pear sauté, and it was the best pasta I ever ate. It was rich, creamy and very tasteful!!!
Pros: in downtown raliegh, nice staff, good food
Cons: a little crowded seating

After reading the previous review I have come to the conclusion that the review was written by a former employee who was terminated or a jealous competitor with nothing better to do than to hate on another restaurant.
We have lived in the raleigh area for 20 + years and have always enjoyed our experience at 42nd Street. We try to make it there atleast 2-3 a month. The staff has always been very courteous, the food has been delicous and the service outstanding. I find it hard to believe that someone has come here for so long and never enjoyed themself. They have it all. Fun atmosphere, great food and spirits, and a vibrant staff. I would reccomend 42nd Street to anyone looking for it all. If you have to wait for a table, there is a lively lounge for you to grab some cocktails and appetizers while you wait. Just writing this review is making me crave those suculent gulf oysters.
Pros: The whole 9 yards
Cons: Lengthy waits on weekeds - hints , great place to go

Sawmill tap room rocks. We love going to Sawmill. We go at least once a week for dinner. They have the best cheeseburger and cheeses fries. The people are so friendly. They have a bar with TVs for watching sports. It is a great place to go.
